you can't bash happy hardcore beause of it's caracteristics... you can dislike it but bashing what makes it what it is, aint gonna help... you can dislike how watercolor has a transparent effect but saying it over and over again aint gonna change the fact that watercolor is transparent... so what's the point? that's just the way it is and whoever uses it, uses it to his advantage and would use something else if it would help him create what he wants to create...

alot of people bashed photography saying it should not be considered a form of art... what strand is saying is, I dont give a fuck if YOU think it's inferior, the important thing is, how can I use photography to make something dope and unique (I'm paraphrasing here)

the context here is a bit different obviously but I fail to see how happy or uk hardcore participates in the regression of electronic music as a whole. It does not discredit electronic music.

Happy and/or UK hardcore appeals to a certain audience that probably would not be interested in electronic music other-wise. Yes it is a young audience, the lyrical themes are not aimed at adults (although some do appreciate it anyways... which is kinda like watching lion king on repeat when you're 35 though). It can serve as an introduction to accepting electronic music as whole...

hell a whole lot of people bashed jump up and harder/darker sides of dnb a while back... but if it had not been for dnb remixes of nine inch nails I wouldn't be djing/producing/promoting dubstep... and I'd probably still be shunning away electronic music for dumbass reasons like... oh its made with machine which makes it automatically inferior

so do what YOU like, don't try and make anyone happy with your art, say what you want to say the way you wanna say it and stop worrying about how anyone else says what they say

I dunno man, it sounds like you've been doing too much homework, I think I got a little lost in your words there for a second... what I'm trying to say is that it's ok to hate a style of music, so much so that you publicly denounce it, not only because it's your right, but because it may one day influence some one to grab a gun and blown their retarded brains out for having wasted years listening to horrible music...

no, wait a second...

what I meant to say was that negative criticism can as constructive and sometimes even more constructive than the positive kind, but the attitude of saying that anything can be art only goes so far, sometimes it's not art, it really isn't... or is it?

Ufot-shootz teh brainz

um, you started this thread with a question, I corrected someones post in a comical manner, which then lead to a debate about the genre...

well, some of us don't have a choice .. if i'm booked at a party with plenty of HHC, then i'm not going to be a dick and show up a minute before my set and then fuck off right after .. i'm gonna stick through it all, no matter what music is being played.

and btw, in the past year, up until a month ago, HHC was in almost every single party that wasn't a pure psy- party. it's been everywhere. it was dead for about two or three years up until just over a year ago ..

so, i don't get the necessity of this thread. what happened to hhc? it got popular again, that's what.

and also, everyone knows my stand on that style already, but i stopped bashing hhc years ago, when i realized that the producers & DJs that make and play that shit are good ppl. some of 'em are chiller than a few of the douches i've met in the hardcore, etc, scenes - and most of 'em are skilled at what they do ... so, i tolerate the music; i've had to, after a decade of raving, learn to ignore the tunes that are unpleasant to my ears, and not whine about it..

but to say happy music is for happy ppl is just dense.. slow, distorted, bass-heavy, aggressive music makes me really happy, so meh...
I'm feeling you up right now..

happy disturbing? its an happy music for happy people, if you are sad and dont like your life, there's a bridge over there and there, go kill yourself.

also. its a genre that some like, and some don't, but who cares in the end really?

i like most electronic music, and produced a lot of kind, really but really often, and let me tell you this, happy hardcore is far the less "same" music ever made.

you know why? because every genre is the same music.

you are maybe just too in your genre to understand that matter!

also the difference

happy hardcore, is the old music, from 90-2000. the happy song made with tracker and the roland 808 and 909.

uk hardcore is somehow an evolution of it, but is more an evolution of the acid house music.
that was fast.

however, go learn a damn thing about music, before speaking about it!

and trying to ruin it.

do i try to go ruin your electro or dnb scene? no. i respect it. and even help the promotor with it.

so shut the fuck up and keep the scene alive dammit!

if you dont like happy or hardcore rave, just dont go to it!

I totally agree with Kalymero. Respect your scene and stop fucking hating!
