$194.00 Core2 Quad 2.83GHz 4GB RAM 2 x 320GIG SATA2 Windows Server 2008 64bit Almost better... Double the ram... And this will cost 25$/more then I am paying now. For sure it would speed things up quite a bit! Even though right now I think things are pretty good they can always be better. And I'd be using Windows Server 2008 and not 2003 which is a huge improvement. |

| Coolness: 2603935 | The problem is December/January always brings better deals. Anyways for 50$ setup and 1 month contract I think I'll take this one and I'll worry about everything else after. Will be a hastle to move everything over. Hopefully this will speed up doing the backups also since the server always slows to a crawl while copying a million files over to another HD. Anyways lunch time :) Then SQL modification time and title making! |

| Coolness: 2603935 | Anyways I think I will go with the Q9550... It's a lot more expensive (around 400$/year) but from experience I don't trust AMD with anything server related. Hopefully I will find a way to make some money from all of this... Maybe pins will start to sell really well :)... |

For the next couple of days from 6:30am to 9:00am the server might be slow cause it's making backups of everything. I deleted my backups so I need to recreate them. Takes about 9 hours to recreate. It's about 60% done after today, hopefully tomorrow it will finish. I stopped it for today... |

Collocation is good, I have a server at home, but you only get 500gigs of bandwidth so even if I did collocation, I'd still need another server to host the music and images which give off about 3000gigs of bandwidth a month.. It would speed things up having two servers but it just means two times the trouble. Not worth it right now. Maybe in the future. If I had my own server I'd set it up with two SSD's and like 16gigs of RAM and an i7... Maybe next year :) |
