Selling alcohol with no alcohol permit.

But seriously, hosting ANYTHING at Fractal at this point is like begging the cops to show up.
I'm feeling smart went crazy right now..

Not true... There are indie shows there all the time and they sell alcohol there all the time... They never have problems... They normally don't have a crazy sound setup though for the indie shows, more like 2 monitors and that's all (cheap indie people)... But all of the indie shows sell alcohol... Maybe they have a permit?

I'll take a guess and figgure that the indie shows end at 3am.. if they have a permit to sell alcohol, then that's as good as you're going to get. Also if alcohol is sold at the events at that location, they have to be advertised as 18+ or they'll get shut down.

Pretty sure the people who were hired to sell the alcohol did not have the permit to do so.

At least, that's what I've heard from one of the DJs and the people attending. :)

Bracelets don't work in Montreal for some reason. What you need to do is have 2 separate rooms, one for alcohol where people can't leave with their drinks (and only people with bracelets can go on)... Then you have another room for the 17- people... You get an alcohol permit for the one room. It cost like 100$ or something. That is how it worked for Soma anyways.

As for Fractal it's called the Eastern Block and they do lots of events there but it's only 18+ normally. And I'm sure normally they get their alcohol licences to sell. POP Montreal does a lot of their events in that place. No problems ever. But they have full permits for alcohol.

that place is allowed to sell alcohol only a few times a year, unless the promoter renting the place has thier own permits. but, the venue insisted on selling beer at kawaii anyway, though the promoter didn't really want to; the venue promised no problems. lol. on top of that, factor in that the event was not "a-but-non-lucrative".. apparently the venue only has the right papers to cover non-profit events.

anyways, i saw the promoter on his wat out of the building when i showed up at the party, and this is approximately what he told me, as to why the cops busted the event.

btw, the party was going to end at 3am, so that wasn't the issue. and it was busted at around 11pm.

them be the breaks.
I'm feeling you up right now..
