fuck that I figured it out

Take highway 15 north to St-Jovite. Follow the 117 north to Mont-Laurier, After Mont-Laurier, continue on the 117 for 15 km and turn left (exit Ste-Famille d’Aumond et Maniwaki). When you cross the little village of St-Famille d’Aumond, continue for another 15 km. At the stop sign, go straight to Ste-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau. After 13 km, take Chemin Rivière Gatineau on your right. Continue for another 7 km and you are at Bonnet Rouge!
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..

are all eclipse attendees on this forum conformists entrapped in groupthink ? I mean what's with this "think like us or disappear so we don't have to deal with different ways of thinking/doing ?" what's with you guys not even noticing that when I speak of "open to all" and "love not fear", you are answering as one, talking of money/gratis and doing the old head/tails coin trick ?

Well even though you wish I did think like you and not come to eclipse, I actually like to mix with different way of thinking, and I went to eclipse and met a bunch of nice people and most of them think eclipse is over-expensive, located in a poorly chosen site, lacking in organization, has several "features" making no sense at all, etc.

so I guess I'll save both of you internet groupthinkalike people and me some time. Either you met me and you know what I am not, else just enjoy your doublethinking and mainstream conformism while accusing others of doing what you are doing, I don't have time to spend on people who are putting so much effort into not communicating. I hope one day you guys will learn about the history of how this music you love so much came into existence, what it fought for and against, also general semantics, language, communication, netiquette and stop directing your mindless violence at beings would be a nice addition.

so long... and thanks for the fish.

from ishkur's guide to electronic music: [ techno.org ]

hardtek/tekno/teknival:

Party culture's second generation took the harder, more obscene elements of Rave and amplified them into this: Hardcore Techno. This scene wasn't run by promoters, record labels or even DJs, but by sound crews. And they didn't hold jobs or nominal positions in society; they were techno travelers, part hippies, part post-punk anarchists, part jackboot wearing, skinhead militarists......and all rave. This was the period of the great Soundsystems, and there were several including DIY, Heretik and Bedlam, but the most notoriously famous was Spiral Tribe, bringing their special blend of dirty, filthy, hard-as-fuck techno. The parties were free, mobile, and clandestine. The rules were few, the regulations were none, and the organization was whatever needed to keep the party going. The rave movement became so large and so threatening to daily life that it culminated in the Criminal Justice Bill of 94, and the trial of 13 members of Spiral Tribe for "Conspiracy to Cause a Public Nuisance". Exiled from the country, the free festival scene still lives today, though sadly it seems rave has chosen to go on without it, reforming itself into what it was striking to do away with in the first place: safe and compliant social conformity.

progressive trance:

Progressive is a pretty pretentious word to begin with, so if you're bold enough to actually call your genre anything like that you better have something pretty fucking impressive, groundbreaking and forward-thinking to call it that. Like, music that will make you fly or breathe underwater or something. Since that's the case, Progressive Trance is easily the most misnamed genre in the history of music. In the annals of trance, it made huge leaps backwards. Most oldskool trance enthusiasts admit that they stopped listening to trance right after Progressive Trance came around (legend states around 96 or so). The genre doesn't actually do anything new or inventive. But what it DID do was codify--that is, write in literal stone--the trance template of breakdown-build-anthem, an infused pop gimmick that all of a sudden made this strange, space-age music suddenly acceptable to the sonically docile masses. No longer long, unwieldy, repetitive and unresponsive, trance became a familiarity, an image, associating itself (and its artists) with all the trappings that keep the pop music world intact. It all went downhill from here.

--

minimal psytrance:

Psychedelic Trance isn't total horror. In latter years it actually came to be pretty goofy stuff, with the most bizarre samples inserted, like babies crying, people burping and sneezing, and other avant-garde musical interludes. The less sensible, however, ventured into this sonic territory, and I have to tell you: this is, bar none, the most evil, depressing, gut-wrenching, "no hope for mankind's impending war against the machines" music in the world. Like most genres, best--and also best for your acid trip--in small doses. But subject yourself to a whole night of this terror and you'll WANT the madness to leave your head by the morning, and you're damn prepared to end it yourself with your brain firmly smushed into the nearest brick wall. I sincerely think this is a secret government torture weapon that accidently escaped to the public. No one can be this sadistic, can they?

ishkur's guide to electronic music is NOT the raver's bible, it is just some person's mix of knowwledge and opinion. and it does not really matter to me what this guy think about the music i like. or what you think about the music i like. i just like it and i think it is the grooviest music to dance to. i don't like hardcore. i don't want to go to the hardcores parties because i don't like the vibe there. i want to do what i like to do, and i do it. psytrance makes me fly. prog psy makes me move like i always want to move. hardcore makes me stay at home.

but this is not pretense. this is not me telling you that i'm right and you're wrong. it's just my opinion. everyone's got an opinion. now go have fun to your hardcore freeparties and let us party the way we want to. please stop telling people what they do is wrong. just live the way you want. i don't know what is your problem, really.

party is party. have fun.

yes maybe we like to make our clothes and dress in a funny and flashy way. that is not pretentious. that is actually DIY. same with our friends making the music. they do it themselves. we don't pretend, we don't say we're better than other people or parties (like you do??)
we just party. like i hope you also do...

anyways. it is obvious that you only want things to go your way. and that you take pleasure in telling people that what they do is wrong and what you do is right. you can't control the whole world, you know. just chill it...

this little bills of paper that i gave at the door... they mean nothing. they are not obtained by hours of slaving for the system, for a job i hate... but have been given to me for doing something i like. and i give them back to other people for doing something they like.

believe in peace and freedom, not hate and captivity.
ps - we are not conformists :)
I'm feeling psy-minded right now..

À l’an prochain !

love and light

Tech Safari team

Hello to all,
We’d like to take a few minutes to express our sincere thanks to all our precious collaborators and friends, without whom we wouldn’t have been able to present the festival this year. Thanks to all of those who helped without counting, with love and passion. Thanks also to the collaborators and friends who joined the team this year and supported us over several months of preparation. Your team spirit, help and encouragement have shed light upon our path. Thanks to the municipality of Sainte-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau, to the Bonnet Rouge site, to all artists, and to Mother Nature who unleashed itself upon us but left us moments of respite. We salute and thank the 1,963 persons (+ 300 guests, employees and volunteers) who attended with their smile and positive energy. Thanks to all who keep on believing in our project. Your support is essential for the future. Eclipse festival is a large-scale event, and the way to it is full of hurdles that force us to work harder each year. Your encouraging words touch us and make us want to keep going for the tenth anniversary. We’ll stay on course and try to improve every aspect of the festival. The dates for next year will be announced soon. See you next year!

love and light
