That's fucken RETARDED.. if all of quebec would grab there balls in there hands and vote BLOC then that dick-head harper wouldn't even be in the picture. but noooooooooooooo, you people have to dilute the odds by voting for crap like Green or NDP.. such crap .

I don't vote for parties that have no leadership potential. I didn't vote for the Tories but honestly they are a REAL party as opposed to the Bloc.

Exactly. And last i checked, you guys all chose quebec to live in. if you want to rant about all your "canada" pride, move to alberta and become almost as american as you can. if not, stop being a hypocrite and vote for your province's federal party and prevent all those other bums from sending OUR money to THEIR country !!!

I was born here, that's why I'm here. I'm from a country called Canada, that's what my citizenship and passport says. Bloc has no positions and is not a real party. They dilute the vote. Voting Conservative makes more sense than voting Bloc, even though I don't agree with that party's current position either.

On another note, I'd like the mention that the people who show up to vote are mostly old people, and they vote conservative. The people who bash that government should have tried to make a difference instead of doing fuck all.

i don't agree with you guys that the bloc is not a party or not really a federal party or whatever other nonsense you say about it...

it doesn't say that you have to run a candidate in every riding to be a real political party at the federal level, you could have a party that runs in one riding, there is nothing illeagal about this even if it offends your sensibilities...

why can't we have a regional party, any other place could have one if they wanted it, in fact the old alliance party that makes up half the conservative party today was a regional party as recently as 6 years ago but they merged with the old progressive conservative party to create the the conservative party of canada that we have now...

the bloc really does defend quebec's interests in ottawa, they believe in more power for the provinces and less for the federal government, in this way they are confederationists (canada is no more than the provinces that make it up) in contrast to the liberals who are federalists (canada is something above and beyond the provinces that make it up). You have to remember in the years before the bloc most people in quebec voted for the progressive conservatives because they were in favor of more powers for the provinces (specifically more tax powers)

i don't buy this idea that just because ideologically the bloc believes quebec should be a seperate country they can't hold seats in the legislature, that's absurd and un democratic on some levels, at least they still want to participate in the debate not just try to make quebec independent by force of arms...

Im not blaming Dion...Im pointing out that a lot of anglos outside Quebec judged him on that...

YOu have no idea how much of a factor it was outside of quebec that dion couldnt speak english, though. Everyone was like "we can't understand what he says, especially when he gets excited," so people tuned him out...and then they were like "I didnt vote liberal cuz I dont like Dion..."

Had most of them sat down and tried to understand what Dion was saying, so many more would have voted for him IMO. But most people didnt bother

Nominating Dion was a disaster, and language had a lot to do with it; people won't vote for someone they do not understand, especially in the west.

The west is basicly like the Red States in the USA...maybe its a value things - tough on crime, pay your own way, etc.

But, the way I see it, people don't even look at the issues in Alberta and Saskatchewan. They just go vote conservative, "cuz they hate liberals." They don't look at platforms, or anything. Its very much an East VS West thing for many people in the west; even though the East obviously doesn't see it that way. And the conversatives are Western Canadas teams, and you always root for the hometown team...

Its fucking retarded.

the west has this funny idea, especially in alberta, that the west should somehow have as much say (ie as many seats in the legislature) as the east, when you try to explain to them that it's a population thing, something like 60% of the populaton lives in quebec or onterio, they get mad at you...
