| Tipping is a horrible practice!! I tip when people deserve it. They usually do(and I tip 95% of the time i go to a restaurant), but seriously... tipping a cab driver, a hairdresser, or whoever already makes more than minimum wage is outrageous. I mean, those hard working mexicans who do 12h shifts in factories sure don't get tipped and they work harder than most, so why should I tip someone who just waxed my armpits in 3 minutes or carried my luggage to the cab? Most countries have no such expectations. We are too spoiled. |

| When it comes to tipping, I've got two differeny "criteria" for it;
If I'm at a restaurant and there's a waitress/waiter, they get a nice tip if they at the very least seem to care. Not just come up, tame my order while being friendly, bring it while being friendly, clear the table, etc.. They have to actually try and talk and be pleasant, maybe recomend me something if there's a dish on the menu that's really good, ask me if I'm enjoying the food or would like a refill/other drink when they're walking by.. Pretty much showing sign that they're really going out of their way to make sure that I'm completely and totally satisfied with my meal AND my experience at the restaurant.
If not, then you're lucky if you get 2$ no matter how much food I payed for.
The exception to that is bars/food delivery, for which (unless I get really shit service) I tip closer to 30%, but only if it's somewhere that I am/plan on being a regular. At a bar, if you constantly tip high, eventually you only end up paying for 1/3 of your drinks, and with delivery, your food ends up ariving a lot faster if the delivery guy sees an address that's a good tipper when he's got a stack of 10 people to deliver to. |

Agreed. Most countries in Europe dont tip, and when they come here, they think its absolutely crazy that we leave money to these ppl.
I say this, but I always tip cab drivers, hairdressers..and even my piercers ! |

| yes but guyz here we pay the full price on taxes.ONly for my last paid i got to pay 300$ in taxes.In your head the 15% go in my pocket? really not.On that i give already 4% to the busboy,then the government took me 8%.So we are already at 12%.So i have the extra.So if you tip less than 12% you are a fucking idiot and deserve to die .THANKS
Ps.Last year finally i got to pay 1500$ in taxes and the year before too.3000 in 2 years.So if you think we are Rich and princess when we complain about bad tipping,you are a complete asshole.Everyone should work in service to know that. |

| Oui mais en Europe ils sont payés à un salaire plus élevé. Dans un resto comme serveuse, on est payé 7.75$/h (puisque je déclare mes ventes et je suis imposée) si tu me laisses moins de environ 8% de pourboire, je paye pour te servir.
Perso, je sais c'est quoi travailler dans la restauration, c'est hard. Mais chaque fois que je vais dans un resto, j'ai un service de MARDE. Pourtant, je ne suis pas exigante (verre d'eau, sourire, surtout revenir me voir pour savoir si c'est a mon gout, c'est tout) et j'ai absolument jamais tout ca. Parfois je me dis que criss que je fais bien ma job de serveuse :)
Mais le monde est cheap en général j'trouve quand on parle d'argent alors tips=argent.
Perso pour les taxis, les take out dans les restos et les coiffeurs.... Je crois que la loi du 15% ne s'applique pas. Moi si ma ride de taxi me coute 30 ou 15$ je laisse 2$, quand je prend un café take out c'est 50-75 cents pis chez le coiffeur genre 4$.
Bref, quand je vois du monde me laisser 1$ pour une facture de 35$ et que moi j'en laisse 75 cents pour un café take out, je suis OUTRÉ. |
