Montreal Bar Owners Want To Stay Open Till 6am

| Seems like the rave mentality of staying up all night is becoming more main stream. Bar owners are upset about the smoking ban and now want something to compensate. They would all like to stay open till 6AM and stop selling alcohol at 3AM and allow people to dance and recuperate after their long night of drinking.
If this is allowed I can see MANY new locations become available to do the party in as long as people are over 18. It also give a good reason for other locations to be open all night!

| I lived in Poland for a few years and bars over there close in the morning. I think this prevents having a bunch of drunk people out in the streets all at the same time, i.e.: 3am/4am. I ended up staying till 7am many times. The downside is that you do tend to drink more and your next day is lost in sleep and/or sickness ;) |

c'est comme un peu n'importe quoi dans la vie, tant que tu abuses pas ça reste plaisant.
Je veux dire, c'est plutot agréable une grosse vieillé, rentrer chez sois le lendemain et se reposer toute la journée. Tu te réveil à l'heure du souper, tu te sens un peu mou mais quand même bien (si biensure t'as pas été malade), tu t'ouvres une autre bière et tu ralxe. Je sais pas, j'aime bien ce genre de fin de semaine moi.
Mais j'avoue que si c'est comme ça en majorité toute la semaine, à la longue tu fini par te sentir comme un gros tas de marde! |

| There was no talk of pushing back the hour that bars are allowed to sell booze until.
The claim was more or less that bar owners feel it's unfair or inappropriate to tell customers that they had to leave the premises but that they shouldn't drive home drunk. In keeping bars open till 6am owners say that people will have a place to stay and sober up until they are in a "proper" state to make their way home. |

| it is a very good idea.. means less drink drivers at 3am and less drunk people all out on the street at once at 3am.. It means people can sober up a bit before leaving the bar or wait for the metros to open. |

| I think it isnt enough, why not stay open 24hrs, like seriously, who hasnt been ready for a drink at 5 in the morning? Not to mention that with the current influx of new immigrants whom love shift work anyways, or any work for that matter, its not like we'd be short of staff!!! I say bring on the binge drinking and new tax revenues, let montreal once again become a haven for deprivity with a modern twist!
on a side note, I also think that the parking meters should be slot machines, like if you get three lemons, you get free parking for 1 hour, so we can finally show those bastard tourrists how proud we are of our gambling, quebecs real national sport...
