Yes, they should. Unfortunately, most journalists are too damn lazy to cover more than the most superficial aspects of any given story.

the real issue is not that these people need to integrate rather that french society as a whole needs to accept them as part of the family...especially the ones who are born there...a lot of these kids don't speak arabic anymore or practice islam for that matter...they just 'look' different and thats why they can't get jobs, french employers don't want them working in any position where they deal with the public, because a north african or arabic face is not the face they want representing the company...so they can only get low level menial labor jobs of which there aren't enough. The real issue is to get broader french society to welcome these people, i think we can all agree on that.
I'm feeling surly right now..

Then why is it people of foreign origin who are rioting, and not people who have been in France for many generations?

I told you already twice that you're wrong on this statement ; your reasoning is based upon this false hypothesis, that's what I'm trying to say.

So it it's not oppressed minorities that are doing this? All of France is turning into a land of violent revolt? In that case I suppose Sarcozy has the right to lock down the entire country!

The riots are the reason someone like Sarcozy was voted in. People are scared.

sarcozy being elected is more about economics than anything else (lower taxes, better business environment, more foreign investment), there is an element of him that is 'tough on crime', remember he was the one who called the rioters 'scum' (in french 'racai') 2006...when he was interior minister...you noticed he has softened a that side of him a little, avoiding provocative statements now that he is president...
I'm feeling surly right now..

I thought it was popular in France because all the videos i have see are from there or the UK.
I've never seen Yamakasi, nor known what it is about.
