I agree as aerial raver suggested that ideally instead of complaining about anything really, it is always preferable to commit oneself to a positive action. Like doing drugs. That's supposed to be a joke, but it's not funny, since we too often? use that means to cope. So many of us need to apply more of that, less complaining, more helping. If only our lives did not seem to play like a broken record.

But back to christmas, the telling of children that things exists when they don't-- the convincing societal illusion that is conjured to make unsuspeccting, trusting, children who's capacity to reason is in development believe in something not real. The major argument or the most popular argument is probably that it brings so-called joy to children, but there are plenty of real and natural things that could bring joy to children, without having them live and believe a lie, falsehood, a fairy tale.

Who knows, I guess, if we'd be better off not hoaxing our children into believing something that is not real. However, since I am in doubt and feel that a child's growth could be better served otherwise. I feel that I'd rather not make my child, if I have one, believe in something false and grandiose. Besides, it is really not necessary. It's not like it is the only thing that could and would ever make a child happy.

I just think that we should question and think twice about this tradition and the implications of it- see it from other perspectives. I don't remember feeling all that betrayed or lied to when I found out santa was not real but maybe I should have. There's much more to life than the pleasurable sensations.

Oh well. Noble lies are nothing new and I challenge any of yoiu to find something you were told as a kid that IS true that made you happy. Sometimes 'pretending' is good enough.
I'm feeling sexy time right now..
