omg cannibal ferox...one of most insane movies i've ever seen.
that and the fact that it takes itself seriously...and they eat a turtle! yum, almost tastes better than brains
I'm feeling much better right now.. |

The reason there are no cannibal zombies is simple: would you eat rotting meat? Neither would they.
In the humour/zombie department, I thought that Undead was pretty funny, though it ends strangely. Zombie Honeymoon tackled the subject differently and a lot more personally than other movies. My girlfriend chouldn't stand the two-minutes chewing towards the end... There's also Stacy, a very wierd Japanese zombie movie where only young girls under 15 become the living dead. Zombie schoolgirls galore!

Yeah Undead was great! It goes a little weird towards the end, but it still works pretty nicely. I think my favorite thing about it was how it was filmed. The whole thing, even though it's all real actors, has the look and feel of a comic book, and it was one of the very few movies in which I found that the CG worked PERFECTLY for it. Most movies these days try so much to be realistic, and throw in such shitty CG that, whenever it's on screen, it takes you out of the movie and puts you right back into your living room as you thing "Man, that's soooooo obviously CG", but in Undead, the CG, as obvious as it was, streamlined into the movie so well that it didn't slap you in the face and say "Hey, look! I'm a hitty computer effect!"
Stacy was just weird, I dunno if it's the subtitles that I had when I watched it, but I don't think I enjoyed that one too much when I watched it.. Some of the inside jokes were cool (I loved the "Blues Campbel" one-handed chainsaw weapon and the Romero Taskforce was a cool little hommage) but overall I didn't find it to be that interesting of a movie. I'd have figgured that there could be no wrong done when combining schoolgirls with zombies, but overall I found it to be a pretty forgettable movie.. The Dead Hate the Living is one movie that I really liked for it's little hommages to zombie movies... Gravestones with the name of zombie movie directors on it, a bumper sticker that says "Fulci LIVES!" with a picture of one of his zombies on it, and the classic like "What would Bruce Campbell do?". The story wasn't too bad, either; some zombie movie fans, are filming their own zombie movie, when zombies really DO pop up!
I'm feeling sleepy right now.. |

Wierd. That sounds an awful lot like Romero's Diary of the Dead, which he is supposed to be making soon. As for Stacy... yeah, it was just too strange to really be remembered. It made no sense at all, towards the end. Love turns girls into zombies? Hrm. I can't wait for My Name is Bruce! THAT movie surely will kick zombie ass!

Diary of the Dead? Damn, I was really hoping for Diamond Dead to be going into production.. I'd love to see a movie about an all-zombie rock band..
