hallal meat.. it's when they just chop off the head so that the animal doesn't die in pain, I think it's the only meat that muslims are allowed to eat. |

Correct ! Most muslims only buy kosher meat. To a layman it may sound ironic but muslims and jews are descendants of the same bloodline so it would only make sense that they would follow similar dietary guidelines. |

Well they don't call it kosher meat they call it hallal. Is hallal meat the same as kosher? My friend in Israel told me kosher meat is killed differently but he didn't tell me how. |

The man who kills the animal is called the 'Shochet' and the ritual itself is called 'Schechita'
The following is an explanation of the procedure as described by Wikipedia: Shechita (Hebrew:ùçéèä) is the ritual slaughter of animals, as prescribed for slaughter of mammals and birds according to Jewish dietary laws.[1] The act is performed by drawing a very sharp knife across the animal's throat and allowing the blood to drain out. Islamic dietary laws requires a similar procedure. The practice is based on the Biblical law that men must not eat the blood of animals.[2] The animal must be killed with respect by a shochet who has in mind the life of the animal as he draws the knife across its neck. The animal can be in a number of positions; when the animal is lying on its back, this is referred to as shechita munachat. The aim is to sever all the major blood vessels in the neck, causing blood pressure in the brain to drop as instantaneously as the pain signal travels to the brain. With the animal rendered unconscious, the heart must continue to pump to aid the removal of blood from the rest of the carcass. For these latter reasons, prior stunning by humane bolt or other methods are not permitted. The animal must be in good health, and is inspected after death to confirm that it was. Those animals which are not cleanly killed by shechita, or which, on inspection, are found to have unacceptable adhesions on their lungs (or one of many other infarctions), are declared non-kosher. If the hindquarters (or sirloin) of kosher mammals are to be eaten by Jews, they must be 'porged' - stripped of veins, fats[3] and sinews[4] in accordance with a strict procedure. [5] Because of the expense of porging and the skill required to properly separate out the forbidden parts, a large portion of the meat of kosher mammals slaughtered through shechita in the United States winds up on the non-kosher market. |

yeah, it's pretty much exactly the same thing, it is also considered valid halal if it's kosher.
'What are the procedures that make the meat halal?' Halal meat is the one derived from an animal that is otherwise permissible to ingest its meat within the shari'a; not only that, but it should have been rendered,or slaughtered,in accordance with Islamic guidelines. That is,in summary;the animal should be slaughtered by a sane, adult, using a sharp object to sever the throat and two neck vessels whence the animal is lying on its left side[in the case of dextral individuals] facing the Qiblah.A spear is used to render the camel, and a knife to slaughter the sheep, goat, cows etc.The declaration of Bismillah, 'In the name of Allah The Great',should precede the actual act of slaughter. Allah SWT says"Eat not of meats on which Allah's name has not been pronounced..."6:121.Imam Malik says, partly based on this, any animal slaughtered without uttering Allah's name either intentionally or forge- tfully even by a muslim should not be eaten.Abu Hanifa only agreed with Malik if it is left out intentionally, while other Ulama feel it should depend on the circumstances,as exemplified in the above prophetic exemption. In that textual hadith above the prophet SAW ordered thegroup to recite the 'Bismillah' on the meat before eating, assuming that it was not done prior to slaughter. 'Are animals slaughtered by christians or jews halal?' Yes,it is halal.Allah SWT says'This day all things good and pure are made lawful unto you.The food of the people of the book is lawful unto you.And yours is lawful unto them..'5:5.It is said that they recite the 'Bismillah' also, during slaughter.Doubftful as it may seem,Ulama have explained that both, atleast, are followers of revealed beliefs/religions. It is on record that the prophet SAW had eaten from meat given to him by ahl kitab, and was even actually poisoned on an occassion with such gift meat. Most scholars have opined that the slaughter of pagans render the meat haram;Ibn Hazm, however, basing his argument on the prophetic saying'Regard them like ahl kitab'justifies eating their food. i think it has to do with pork going bad quicker and the fact that it must be cooked all the way through
then after generations and generations it became part of the religious values that's what a history teacher told me years ago sorta makes sense
I'm feeling disposable right now.. |

Yeah, that's what I've heard it attributed to also. Back in the day (like waaaaaaaay back in the BC) they didn't have good food preservation, and eating bad pork can kill you pretty damn fast, so people thought it was a sign from god that you weren't supposed to eat that kind of animal.
I'm feeling sleepy right now.. |
