here's the flyer once again for the hedz.
Timothy Wisdom, VANCOUVER, BC [ www.timothywisdom.com ] Slicing up the funkiest selection of breaks and beats for over a decade, Timothy Wisdom is the instigator of fun. He’s been blowing up dance floors from Vancouver’s Sonar and Club 23 night clubs to the notorious Atomic in Ottawa and even Calio’s in St. John’s - where he was a headliner and founder of the Atlantic Canada dance movement some 13 years ago. In ’91, he was programming drum machines, making samples, scratching records and dropping lyrics in the hip-hop group Heretic. By ’95 he was riding the East Coast trance movement playing in Halifax’s Marquee Club. By ’98 he was gaining international exposure while hosting the show, “Beat Fusion”, on the most-listened-to Internet radio station in the world. By 2000 Timothy Wisdom had spanned across Canada and was rocking funky house, bass heavy breaks and jungle in Vancouver’s underground warehouse scene. Combining the tricks of turntablism into his performance, he went on to win the scratch DJ competition at InQuest in 2003. His record crates know no boundaries and wherever he goes, Timothy Wisdom gets the movement moving. In 2001 Timothy Wisdom created the first digital force feedback turntable, D’Groove, earning him a Masters degree. An engineer at the decks and on the mic, Timothy is a master of his artform, legendary for his crazy scratching, instant remixes, and hilarious antics. He teaches kids the art of turntablism, instilling in them the same passion he has for the craft. Now affiliated with Vancouver’s underground Tribal Harmonix Collective, he plays warehouses, outdoor parties, and clubs with equal vigour, sharing the spotlight with locals like Jacob Cino and the Third Eye Tribe, the Wasabi Collective, DJ’s Czech & Vinyl Ritchie (Vancouver) and Eastern artists like the Ebony & Ivory Sound Crew (Ottawa), DJ Deko-ze (Toronto) and the Telefunk Sound System (Toronto). “tasteful scratching and one of the few DJs who can casually mix records in seconds” – DJ Jacob Cino (Third Eye Tribe) “He puts so much exhilaration into his sets…slaying audiences” – DJ Ronin (Native State Records, Episode 13) “for me the absolute highpoint was [his] one turntable set. The way that man kept the energy stoked in the room was truly amazing. And freestyling no less. Just amazing!!!…Timothy Wisdom is a genius!” – Michael Ki, co-creator of Intention V [where Timothy covered for a failed turntable and rocked a room of 200 people with just one deck and a mic] “[Timothy] makes totally cool technology” – The Discovery Channel Timothy Wisdom’s science on the turntables is astounding. His ability to captivate audiences is so diverse that he really puts on a performance: crossing beats from countless genres, scratching over perfect mix sets, hitting the mic with rhymes and crowd hype and making the room explode. Just when you think the party can’t get any better, Timothy Wisdom will get the place roaring.
