Qs About An Hypotethical Acid Party

I havent been in the scene for some years now so i need to ask you guys some questions in order for me to decide if it will be worth my time/effort/money to try and get an acid party on the calendar. I am not making this a poll because i want to trigger a discussion and not a gathering of statistics.
1) Do you think today's crowd can be convinced to come to an acid party. The oldschool card is easy to play there, and usually ppl like to pretend to be oldschool. 2) Do you think it would be feasable without an international headliner, given that the price would be low by consequences, or do you think a party today without headliners is not a feasable option. (i understand unscrupulus promoters throw parties with no headliners and 30$ for ticket prices, but i'm not gonna do that) 3) Do you see this as a |

If I can find some more acid (don't have too much) I'd be down with plating at this, and I know a bunch of people that would probably come also. I played some stuff off Brain records last night and a lot of people really loved it. I think an acid party could work as a one-shot. Work the old-skool thing as much as possible to get as many people. |

I want to post a correction to somethign i said (someone told me something that made me rethink).
I do not want to not pay my DJs. I think of all the ppl a promoter has to deal with, they should be paid first. (well, the sound guys too, cuz if they leave with their sound..). I'm just trying to do the maths here, and i'm also trying to make this happen withotu losing much money like other times. |

I must admit it, acid is dead in mtl and it's making me real sad.
There was a real nice acid event thrown by Indica not long ago and not a lot of people showed up even tho the lineup was kick ass. If you need people for that kind of event, I would totally be up for it, got plenty of screaming 303 waiting to rip people's ears. Screwhead, you got some Brain records ? Are they some recent ones ? I bought the entire collection up to Brain40, past that I stopped buying them cause they got weird and not as good. |

When I went there I saw one party with acid music on a flyer, but people there said it was rare, like 2 or 3 parties/nights a years with acid flavors. Same thing with Chicago, the temple of the acid house. No more acid parties there since already a few years. The thing is that I guess the classic 303 sound has been SOOO overused, for years, years and years, that producers and labels got bored and wanted to experiement something else. I still dig a good acid track from time to time, espacialy old school acid house from Chitown. |

you're right seb. but now, like i told you before, some producers use the 303 in other contexts than the "303 classic" way.
It's really interesting how people use it today. |

btw guys, if you don't know, AFX released a series of 12" called "Analord". The concept is making music with only analog stuff. just listen to "Fenix Funk 5" and you'll see, acid still can be good :) |

Yeah, there's a hell lot of possibilities with a 303.
But let's get something straight, the way freeform uses the 303 is not interesting. In fact, Acid techno started dying shortly after freeform gained some popularity, might be a connection. nothing against freeform tho, just saying that I don't like the way they abuse the 303 for no reason. anyway, it's my opinion, I don't expect everybody to agree. |

all this doesnt answer any of my questions tho exept that acid is not popular at the moment (which is a given)
and yes, Indica's party had a nice line up and all, but i think it was overpriced and also it wasnt marketed like it should have. (It was marketed as a birth day party) |

I think what I have always thought... "IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME..." I guarantee that if I put together a country and western party, feat. live country bands that I could pack the house with a bit of promotion and a bunch of elbow grease... anything can be accomplished if you it to be, where there is a will there is a way,... Smurf, talk to some promoters and producers that have recently thrown events and get a feel for whether or not u think u should invest time or money... asking for random opionnions on this board is like throwing a penny in a fountain... though it is nice to read this thread...

I'm not sure if an all acid party would work these days. As with many other styles... |
