$3000 a year.
and no i don't pay, my parents do, so what? if they didn't i would take out a loan. am i lucky to have parents who pay for my school? sure, should i be ashamed of it? no. Do i live on my own and pay for all the other expenses? yes.

I've worked 40 hour weeks ontop of going to classes, last summer i would work 13 days out of 14 and would save up my cash for the year, that allowed me extras like a new computer etc..

I could very well have saved that cash and used it for school if i had needed to.

People who don't want to work while in school are lazy fucks.

well if you had to pay the extra cash for school and took a loan would you rather get bursaries (like $500) that you dont' have to pay back later or owe the full 10 G's?

It's not free money, it comes from taxes.. But it's the socialist way of thinking which is very popular in Quebec and with the french people in general I find...

last night there was a concert at metropolis (and pectrum i believe too) to support the students on strike
it was the most hideous and tacky thing i'd ever seen in my life
i had to 'serenity now' myself down cus i was getting very annoyed. i dont think security has worked THAT hard in a while
the concert itself was free- but the bars, coatcheck and merch sold for a hell of a lot.
ironic for people wanting a free education, no?

it's not about "free money", stop that, damn!
It's about accessibility to post-highschool programs!

post-secondary education is fucking cheap!
wanting cheap education AND someone else to pay for it is called greed. plain and simple.
UNLESS you *REALLY* can't, in which case the bursary program is for you.. last i checked the program still exists, just with less money.

the government realized the bursary program was getting out of control and they need to regulate it again
it'll increase eventually depending on the needs of the students

what kind of argument is it that it cost nothing compared to the reste of the world?
Can't we do it our way?

I agree that collegial education, except for some AEC, is quite cheap.

It's alright to regulate the bursary program to give less to thoses who need less, but 103 000 000$ isn't a regulation. Theses 103 000 000$ will mostly just go directly in the debts of students.
And this has several impacts on the number of students in Universities (believe it or not, there's a lot of students that take the financial side as a big factor in their decision), and, also, someone that have loans will not be a great customer for several years, which have a lot of impact on the economy.

And, can we dream that in an almost-society, that we do not need to work and study full time at the same time? As I already said, we all know that it's not good on both academic and motivation side.
I am well aware that Quebec has financial difficulties (while Canada don't know what to do with their surpluses, but that's an other story), but the reason why the government is doing theses cuts is just lame, to lower the taxes, while cuting in all social programs and ask for more money in others ministries, which will ask more money from us.

It's like, c'mon, we can't afford to lower taxes, don't cut more just to lower taxes, if we need to lower taxes, it's because we can afford it, not because we cut elsewhere.

i'm surprised that everyone has forgotten the government's big idea to fund jewish schools (which would have cost a fortune and only help a select group of people who DONT" need the extra funding) yet when it comes to poor student who could use the cash it's a big rukus
