i just ventured down to the SAQ beside atwater market, which IS open, for those of you with a liquor-jones going on, and after paying, there was some sort of scuffle outside the doors, where striking workers were haranguing the comers-and-goers, then said strikers blocked the doors, thereby trapping everyone in the store. this lasted about 20 minutes, when the cops finally showed up and put a stop to it. needless to say it was better to be trapped INSIDE with booze than OUTSIDE without......

yeah its sad but unions are starting to lose ground, rather than taking advantage of the fact that its most people basic feeling to support them, greed and terrible PR is starting to turn the tide of public opinion against them

SAQ has a monopoly already and super well paying retail jobs n thats not enuff?

i know.. when i stopped by to pick up some booze, they were like walking in the parking lot, making for us customers to have a hard time to get to the parking spots..

They should lock out the workers and hire new one's.. like in the NHL.. same deal..

This whole strike thing is starting to get really annoying.

I had to go all over the city just to find one that was open. Then once I found one (45-min away from my home), it took me another hour just to get to the cash because it was so packed.

God, I never would have thought it would be so complicated to get drunk.

Companies always try to put the public's opinion on their side. What you need to do is get the public to side with the union. Only then will the companie fold. But right now, by acting like a bunch of retards, directly attacking shoppers like that. That ain't a good thing to do.

i find it stupid that the government can have a monopoly on something like that and allow the workers to go on strike..

kinda reminds me of the stm going on strike (not as bad obviously, but anyway) and having to wait 6 hours downtown before i could go home after class.. then being crammed into an overstuffed metro car..

or when i finished work at 1am and had to walk home (nice 1.5 hour walk)

i think what happened, when i was there last night, what started this scuffle, was that the guy who had just paid before me walked out of the store with a boxful of wine bottles he had bought and the strikers knocked it out of his hand, cause i was at the cash paying, the wine-guy was walking out and i heard a thunk-smash type noise and then they blocked the doors...
yeah this whole union shit is fucked... you cant get any booze and even if you could you'd slip on the fucking sidewalks the city workers didnt clean going to get it, and break your ankle; and to top that off theres no hockey......actually there is....sort of....tsn is replaying old nhl games so thats better than nothing. wednesday night they replayed a playoff game from 1979 between montreal and toronto, which was cool to watch. funny hair-do's, no helmets etc........
