As far as I know your friend would have to get permission from whoever owns the copyright for the song. In some cases it is the songwriter, in some it is the publisher or producer. You should urge your friend to make sure about this because it would be easier to get permission BEFORE production, because once it's produced the copyright owner has a much stronger position to negotiate from (ie: they could just refuse to give your permission, or charge an outlandish amount). |

| Coolness: 340 | WHOOOOA PEOPLE CHILL CHILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was PLANNING on asking Infected for their permission IF I WERE TO DECIDE TO ENTER IT IN A FILM FESTIVAL. But mostly this is JUST FOR FUN AND FOR SCHOOL. I am studying multimedia, and one of my projects is to make a music video. SO that was what I chose and if it ends up being like super kick ass THEN I'D ask Infected if it was cool I enter it in a film festival.

I highly doubt that if a school asks you to do a music video, that they care about whether or not the music in that video is copyrighted or not. What they are looking for is not your ability to find the right people to contact in order to use their intellectual properpy, but about how to you make a music video. |

| Coolness: 48970 | you could use music in a film but it can only encompass no more that 25% of it straight , its nto copyright infringement if theres no copyright (a), and (b) you cannt use a whole song if ther eis a copyright and you dont wann pay royalties
