ok so the new i mac is like 1800 or so and an amd 64 system souped up a little is about the same. The imac just looks so sweet with is user friendly "It doesn't matter how fuckt you are you can still use me system" and it's viruses don't affect me shiznit and keep in mind this is for video so for the amd system that means keepin a good video card and sound card working.
Ok your thoughts here :

good luck adding a scratch disk or two to an imac

Also the athlon64 would cream it performance wise if you are using intensive effects (imacs only have one g5 remember)...

But it is easier and you do get a nice lcd

i dunno, i find it kinda dumb to compare a low end consumer computer to a high end professional computer..

is there really any point?

Yeah because the low end Imac is priced in the same range as the high end professional PC system.

iMac's start at $1,749.00 CND and that's with a built in 17" LCD.

this thing is basically a laptop for home.

That's pretty expensive for a system that only comes with 256mb ram

you can get an amd64 laptop with 512 (at least) for about 2000k or so...

I hope apple doesn't claim they had the first 64-bit laptop when the g5 laptop comes out (eventually)... I don't hate the company because of their product, the product is good... I hate them because they charge so much for largely commodity based products and often use misleading tests / comparisons to advertise their systems.

alright, go get an AMC 64 lapto, with 17" monitor, dvd burner, firewire, 80gig HD, 256megs of ram for $1750..

you can't/wont.

yeah because no system maker in their right mind would ship a system with a huge monitor and a tiny hd and almost no ram... It's completely out of proportion...

the reason i love Apple is really simple

i heard a lot of pc guys said ,at least once, that they have a major fuck with their machines.
All the people i know who own a Mac: never
And my personal experience: I owned a Power Mac G4 466mhz for 3 years and i never had a proplem with. Now i have a Powerbook G4 500mhz with 512mb ram and this shit is just perfect (for 1200$ but no burner but i can live easely without that...)

Maybe what I,m about to say is wrong but it's good for me:
What kind of car do you what? A GM (or Whatever...) or an Audi???

there are no worms that spread through windows if people keep their system up to date... it's not hard to goto windows update but so many people don't...

yeh, but with windows you need virus and firewall software running constantly or you're at risk.

i ran a G4 for 3 years and never had ANY problems with someone trying to hack me, or any sort of data corruption.. even after fucking arround with the system over and over again.

depending on your dietary needs, apples may be more suitable for you... your physionomy and mitochondria dictate your magnetic resonnance and attraction to ideological manifestations in the physical realm. the creators of these computers are catering to your magnetic resonance. find your pole. to each their reach. but arguing is fine to hear your own voice. carry on
