I'm using 1152x864 (17 inch LCD at work and 19 inch CRT at home).

If you're design a webpage to be see by people worldwide, you're best off designing it at 800x600. at least 45% of surfers to my sites still use that resolution.

you can use javascript to determine the surfer's resolution and then redirect to different pages based on that, but it requires 2 versions of the page.

alternately, you can use percentage tags in your tables (ie: and they would adjust according to the resolution.

honestly, you're better off just designing for 800x600. there's no use in bothering to do multiple versions of the page. just make sure the width is no more than 770px (borders and scrollbars)

i tried the percentage thing with frames and it seems to work but the images might just be too big.

this is my site: [ pages.infinit.net ] (still under construction)

yeah, if you wanna keep that layout, then it wouldn't fit inside 770 pixels.

what i do when i design is i enclose the entire page in a one-cell table with a width of 770 and cellspacing/cellpadding set to 0.

the page is very nice though :)

if its for a corporate website then just use the % at 800x600
if its just for fun then... fuck the losers with the 800x600 and do 1024x768

i use 1152x864, but designing for 800x600 is stupid, go for 1024x768, anyone with a decent computer will run at that rez.
