Battletech is just a term I came up with...basically refers to tough, aggressive techno, not quite hardtek or schranz and not really acid, but would be good to drive a tank/fight cyborgs/pilot a mech to. 'Our Broken Toy' or 'Hydraulix 34a' are good examples. A lot of the stuff on ARMS, Internal Error, and MAXMIN lately fit into what I'm trying to describe as well.

Fishead: Believe it or not, that was like, the 2nd vinyl I ever bought ever. It's hard to find anything that will mix into it, but it works nicely as a tool to throw over longer tracks. I'll try to track down some of his newer stuff...

PS. I'm totally stealing that Battletech picture...badass.

Greetings Montreal, I finally got off my ass and put a mix up. Starts off groovy, builds up to a peak, drops down into the deeper side of things with Sebrok and Dirty Bass, brings it back into stomp mode with some Technasia and Marco Bailey, and ends on a dark twisted tip with Blocked Barrel from Perc, a nasty bassline monster from Ant and D.D.R., some of Dirty Bass' more psychedelic output, a courtesy appearance from William Burroughs, and an Analord track. Hope you enjoy!!!

Thanks for throwing such a crazy party! Unfortunately, I was completely out of energy by the time I got there...not enough sleep or food the day prior to withstand the whole night. I think I wound up falling asleep in the chill out area for part of the night, and I know for sure I missed Deviant Species =( All accounts I heard of it was that he was absolutely amazing though.

Best part for me was the ride back through the snow...it was like rally racing in all that slush...Wheee!

Burial - 'Untrue'

I was packing all of my gear into my car to drive out here (I hail from BC originally), and I wanted to reduce the risk of the tonearms getting damaged if something slipped or put pressure on them or something. So I unscrewed the little screw that goes down through to the axle that the whole arm pivots on. This way I could lay the tonearms on their side.

When I unpacked them here, I put the tone arms back into place and screwed the screws into place. For each deck, I heard a little *pop*, but i thought it was just popping into place. Then I realized the tonearms weren't balancing properly. I pulled the screws out again, I had put holes in the tiny little washers that hold the bearings in place.

They still work, but they're kind of loose, and they just don't pivot very smoothly.

Would have saved me a lot of trouble if I'd bought hardcases for them. =/

Where should I go in Montreal to get a pair of Tech 1200s serviced? I managed to pop out and lose a couple of ball bearings from the joint where the tone arm connects to the deck itself. I tried to fix it myself and....yeah, not a good idea.

Anyone know a good place to get them checked out?

Any chance of getting the samples re hosted? I'd like to take a stab at 'em.
