That's fine Bliss, Stereo is a legendary institution and I was very proud to be a resident there. All clubs have pros and cons, I enjoy both for different reasons. It would never cross my mind to compare them, or try to convince you otherwise.

What event are you talking about? The Yoji night?

One thing is for sure, the vibe and the people in a club will change significantly according to the night showcased. My night for instance, is based on educated techno lovers, the vibe is probably the best I have seen in 10 years and that kind of music is not really what attracts meat markets.

So you have to chose your night wisely. Going to Stereo on a David Morales night, is def not like a Ritchie Hawtin night...

On the other hand, the club scene will never be like the rave scene, that's what it made it so unique.

'Bof Adam X.
Last time I heard him play in 2007 it sucked big time."

Adam is coming for the first time under is new Traversable Wormhole Live act, which is outstanding and fresh, just like the latest CLR releases.

Just to clear up a few things, a lot of opinions about Circus are old and outdated (but I do agree with the issues the club had previously). The staff as changed, as well as the way the place is managed.

I can assure you that the vibe is off the hook and very enjoyable for my Black Out nights. I invited in the last year Tommy Four Seven, Brian Sanhaji, Subfractal, Erphun, Alex Bau, Chris Liebing, and we have Monoloc tonight! A lot of those artists have never been to Canada, even North America!

So I think that in terms of underground techno in clubs, we are doing a banging job. Most of them tell me that Black Out is unique in North America.

I am not trying to sell you the place, but I do believe that the place as gone through major changes in the last 2 years. If you are into that kind of techno, it would be stupid not to try it because of older facts. I know that the new generation that didn't witness the old Circus vs Stereo debate don't have any issue with the club as of today.

I am not, really. But if somebody says I must get out of there, I can at least explain my position.

Not everything is so black and white. That was my point. There's no axes of evil, just people, some good, some bad. People are quick to put ideas in boxes, I just try to stay objective.

The nightlife is very, very shady ( that includes afters, bars, restaurants, independant raves ...). I have friends that have tried to open a clean bar, and was shut down in a month. Myself, I have been taken over by gang members while I was doing my own events. They would come a few hours before, and basically told you that you were fucked.

It's not a pretty picture. I heard so many stories, saw so many things. Today I learned that unless something affects me personally, or I know something for a fact, I just keep doing what I love to do. I will make the proper decisions in time.

As for issues against Circus, I am not trying to convince you otherwise really. I had my own issues when I left there when they opened a few years ago, and wasn't sure when I went back. But I can really say that a lot of things have changes, musically, with the staff, and the clientele. Some opinions stated, are very true, but also often from a while back. Like I said, not everything is so black & white.

I really hope that the police can make sense out of all this. It's in everybody's interest.

Yes I am a resident of Circus. I was also a resident at Aria, Stereo, Level, Revolution... All places that people had huge grudges against, and advised me not to play there.

I don't do club politics, I play music. And I make up my own mind and opinions. Everybody is crying about Aria today, but few remember how many people hated that place. I went, against some people's will, and had one of the greatest time.

I can honestly say that my Black Out night at Circus is the best night I have built in the last 10 years. I never had so much fun, the vibe is incredible, and I have tons of videos to prove it, and I have a huge following of people that really enjoys the night. (if you want to see them, feel free to ask). To say that the music is always shitty and commercial and things like that is nonsense.

98% of people do think it is Circus. Yes. But I can also find at least 10 other reasons why Stereo could be burned down. DOn't worry, when they do find the person that did it, if it concerns me in any way, I will make the proper decisions as I have always been a person with integrity.

So far, Circus has been nothing but great to me. Showing me respect, and carte blanche and my bookings, and promotion of my night.

As an ex-Stereo resident and a lover of our scene, I am deeply sadden by what is going on. But I don't consider myself a police investigator and I will wait for the result to make my opinion.

I don't need to get a grip Bliss, I am a fairly intelligent and sober guy.

There is no Stereo haters, aside the person, or small group of people that commited the action. Whatever that reason should be.

By doing this, you are doing terrible PR for Stereo, and the last thing they need is club wars propaganda.

Debates we have right now about Djing, beatmatching, vinyls, Cds, laptop, sync are totally irrelevant (as long as you don't trainwreck, but a monkey could mix with CDs).

The new generation of DJs will be totally digital. They will never even consider buying a turntable, a CDJ, or even a mixer (as you can also use the software internal mixer).

There's only one thing that stays true to the art. You. Your work, your performance, your personality, your feelings, and your ability to build a flow, control your sound and your crowd. The rest are just tools.

Also, a DJ as to pull is ass out of bad every week-end in the middle of the night, even after 10-15-20 years. That is more than hobby. Even passion is not enough. It's just what you are.

Very true. That system is a beast, and I have seen some people totally rape it (in a bad way, not in a sexy fun kind of way). But towards the end the system needed some love and tweaking because it was lacking in bass power and the highs were hard on the ears. At the end, the sound wasn't very good. Especially when the pioneer mixer was on and some were not too friendly with the volume. But I am sure they will make it good again, it just needed some maintenance.

Never understood why they didn't want to add a EQ unit in the booth instead of the pioneer....

Stereo has never been minimal-techno oriented. There was a few nights here and there, but the owners were never really into that sound. It was more about house, tribal, funk and some progressive... But let's see who are the next guests and new residents, maybe they will add more minimal this time around.

Thank you so much. And yes you can be sure he and Alex will be back, it's the first thing Rush asked me too when I dropped him at the airport. ;-) He said man, what a night, I got to come back soon!

I totally understand what you are saying, yes it would have been cool having more people . The thing is with Europe is that techno is much stronger, if promoters would charge only 8 euro, that means it would take at least about 400 people to get Rush alone. So if you want to make up for the venue, staff, set-up, well you need a lot of people.

Oh and guess what? My man Alex recorded the whole set!!! I will put up his set on Ravemontreal tonight. It's so GOOD!

the ticket was 20$ for 2 months until one hour before the event, and work my ass off telling everybody to go get the ticket in advance with a lot of promo. If people want to wait at the door, it's a choice. This was one hell of a set-up, for Club Soda only, a + 12,000$ show. A break even of more than 400 people. Believe me, I was FAR by making any money that night. VERY FAR. After 18 partys in 5 years, I don't think Ravemontreal has to make a name for itself. Rush said he was way impress with the organisation. I gave everthing I had to make this techno party in montreal.

If he didn't play all night or both venues, it's because he performs max 2 hours in his contract. He went for 2:30 and gave so much energy I told the guy would pass out. He gave everything he got.

Rush loved it so much, he says he wants to come back asap. He felled in love with Montreal and says he had the best time, and will write something about it on his webiste at [ www.djrush.net. ] He was just the nicest guy, incredible performer, and Alex Bau didn't an amazing job at Aria. Musically, one of the best night I have ever heard.

If people want to leave and just listen to him, it's their choice. Most of the people will stay for Pink feria, some will go home, some will transfert to Aria...

You do what you want. It's a nice line-up in a nice venue with a Dj we haven't seen in 3 years, and the second part at Aria looks equally good. The cards are on the table, you take what you like. This is the concept of the party that worked very well when I did Miss Kttin, nobody left after her performance, and most went top Aria afterwards.

But having a screen box wasn't a good idea, the crowd was too big and putting the box in the middle seperated the crowd....

But this time, the screens will be more along the walls.
