I dunno, I keep trying to "get" into the original Dawn of the Dead, but I never manage it. I much prefered Day of the Dead. More bleak and a lot darker. It's been at least a year now, and the people are all on the breaking point. It's more psychological than Dawn, there's more tension, things don't look good for the survivors. I find Dawn to be more campy and humorous than Night or Day, and not in a good RotLD/DeadAlive/Undead kinda way.

Still, though, it's light years ahead of Children of the Living Dead and Troma's Redneck Zombies. Those are just BAD. I can't wait for Worst Case Scenario to come out. If it wasn't for the fact that it's gonna be filmed in Holland I'd be playing a zombie in it.

Check the promo reel. It's 23 megs, but it's more than worth the wait to watch.

I wonder if that would qualify as a zombie movie, what with Bill Muray always waking up alive after dying... I mean, people consider 28 Days Later a zombie movie, so why the hell not!

Does frankenstein count as a zombie?

Not really. Frankenstein was made from multiple parts of corpses, not one corpse re-animated. Though, Frankenstein does sort-of fall into the category of original zombies acording to voodoo, where a corpse was re-animated to be a servant, usually by bakers to work late into the night while he slept so that the bread would be ready for the early morning customers. Though they were never suposed to have inteligence.

zombies usually travel in packs,

just so you know.

spooky is NOT a zombie, he's just a goth. keep that in mind.

Not always though. Zombie Nightmare featured a single zombie, re-animated by voodoo, out to get revenge on the teenagers that ran him over. (It was also filmed in the WASTE ISLAND, mostly around St-Anne)

Return of the Living Dead 3 was centered around a single zombie for the most part.

There are a couple of others as well, I just can't think of them off-hand right now.

Van Helsing looks alright. It's gonna be just a combination of Blade and The Monster Squad (10 points for anyone who remembers Monster Squad!) which means it's gonna have "classic" monsters, too much CG, and fight-scenes that belong in a music video to some generic hard acid or whatever remains of all the Nu-metal bands now that nu-metal isn't "in" anymore in a desperate attempt to make angsty hot-topic goths find it cool.

Hellboy looks cool as hell, but the trailers are aparently miss-leading, in that it's not going to be focused on action, so much as actual story depth. Aparently it's more of an action-horror, with more emphasis on the horror than the action.

Helsing looks way too much like an LEG (league of extra-ordinary gentlemen, ["LXG" makes no sense at all]) type movie.. and LEG ate ass.

the trailer for hellboy has some very nice CG in it.. not once did i say "wow that looks fake"..
