Rez1.0 = amazing bubbly acid-like rez'd out insanity.
Texture1.0 just became the only thing I will ever make pads with ever again.
And I dunno exactly how the fuck Motion2.5 works, but this thing's sound quality is on par with Absynth 2.0 IMO, and looks easier to use...

VST's are effects, VSTi's are instruments, and to use them in reason you need like a gazillion diffrent things to get them to work properly because reason is proprietary garbage made for grandparents and AOL users woh need to have everything complicated done for them by someone.

VST is a protocol.

a protocol is a generic method of describing data. In simpler terms, its a language that allows two or more things to talk to each other without getting confused.

In the case of VST, this is a method of having a third party client (Your VST plugin) talk with a host (Cubase or Fruity Loops) and for a host to talk with the client, by exchanging DSP/MIDI and relevant information.

In the case of Reason, Reason does not have native support for VST. Why? I have absolutely no idea, but Reason is nonetheless modular in design, only you can't use non proprietary modules with Reason. So a proprietary module was created for the simple purpose of making Reason normal, and that was called Rewire.

Technically, Rewire is just another program that "rewires" your software setup by redirecting DSP sources and MIDI information to various different pieces of software.

DSP stands for Digital Signal Processing/Processor. Its how digital machinery such as computers understand wave formations such as sound.

MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, essentially a protocol designed to handle all sorts of information that would be relevant to a musician. Notes, velocities of each note, when the note played, ect. No DSP informaton or audio signals are sent through MIDI, just sequencing data.

what are you talking about you dickless twat!!!!!
at elast my machine isnt worthless the moment I bring it home...and turn it on...
I have 4 macs ranging in age from 16 years old to 1 year old all 4 run rick solid and each of them can do any number of tasks still even the 16 yr old mac runs a mail server...
so get off your fucking high horse only people living in the dark ages still stick to that dumb pc vs mac argument...
also as a programmer you might be interested in making apps that all can use its lesslimiting for you and your user base.. I know Ive ported at 14 of my applications from mac to pc and linux. why you ask becasue im not a fucking backwoods pigheaded asshole like your self

honestly I don't see your point.

right now, I'm on an eMachine p500 with a full sized ATX powersupply duct taped to the top of the box. It has three hard drives in a casing fit for only two.

The computer was found in the garbage because the microatx supply died.

The computer runs just fine.

As for compatibility.

The amount of mac users in this world is minimal, its standards breaking, and not of much importance when releasing FREE software.

Its really simple.

Also, your arguement about a mailserver is pointless. It takes little resources to run a mail server.

And, just so you know, performance tests all over the place put both Intel and AMD higher than dual G5s. So why make software for an inferior machine? Why limit yourself to its fallacies when you can focus on the ever increasing power of the PC?

In anycase, you think composers don't have talent. EOF

so aaaaany way...

re-wire will allow me to hook reason to vsts???
is it basically a sequencer that brings in reason files, plays those, and allows you to overlay these "vsts"?

is there any links anyone could give me about this stuff, i really would appreciate it...

For the record.. I use both systems regularly and they are both quite fine for music making...
