Who said anything about mingling? About going easy on them? I never asked you to write a letter pleading for the government to provide the young offenders with play stations and swimming pools. Just perhaps an education and regular meals and a little safty. They should be worried about being attacked by other inmates not the guards. You're clouded by hate...

End of discussion. If anyones interested you have the tools.

I don't wish to come on too strong, but i really feel like i have to adress this.

I find there's a lack of real comprehension of the situation and moral judgement by some of you here.

The argument is that the ill-treament of prisoners is justified due to the prisoners being incarcerated because of violating the law and therefore, they need to impose corporal punishment and abuse to teach these bad boys a lesson...(?)

First, i don't see how fighting fire with fire will help any of these people readjust in society.. i don't see how a 13 year old who got caught stealing should be kicked, mal-fed and verbally assaulted by unscrupulous prison guards. Some of them may deserve it yes, but the magnitude at which this has occured is NOT justified. The prison guards justify it for themselfs so that they can get their sick dose of pleasure in torturing people.

Let's say you got caught steeling at 14, or think of any other pety crime you've commited in the past, (something of been guilty of myself in the past, totally redemmed tough, blabla) and were imprisonned and abused of your civil rights for this, i doubt some of you would have the position you have now on this subject.. it's easy to voice your opinion in your comfortable home but take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Shouldn't the perpetrators of this abuse be brought to justice themselfs? if these prison guards that are bent on getting a dose of ego boosting violence on these children were doing this outside the confines of this prison, which acts as a smokecreen for corruption, shoudn't they face the same abuse that the're inflicting? see.. the logic doesn't benefit society. it's just a manifestation of hatred on all sides.

any smart socialogist/psychologist will tell you that a person who suffers abuse from corruption by prison officials will tell you that this person will be even worst comming out of prison.. obviously they shouldn't get luxury treatment, which tends to happen with the big boys (another sign of corruption) they need to suffer the consequences, but it's just detremental behavior.. it's a vicious cycle, you can't make things better with violence and abuse...

my 5 cents
