Yeah, God is a DJ, and he mixes gospel house, poorly... ...eitherway, everything above depends on the DJ him/herself, you see most people know that I'm the DJ that hates DJs, but I do have a large handfull of DJ friends who are chill, and others I'd just as soon forget. There are too many DJs, and there are alot of shitty ones, and alot that are in it for the wrong reasons, reasons (like that we are always in the midst of an orgy) that are entirely unfounded, but there are alot of kick ass ones that are there for good reason, and they inspire. Nonetheless, every little DJ needs a chance to prove themselves, but at some point, the choosing of DJs for an event is rarely based on talent. For some promoters anyway. So now that I've alienated a bunch of people, I would like to add that, as far as the difference between DJs/producers is concerned, I haven't any idea 'cause I do both, as alot of us do... ...But, there is a flipside to all this, it isn't necessarily cool to BE a DJ, 'cause you're never sure why people want to be your friend... ... ...one last note; I really like what DJs are called in the reggae world: SELECTORS ... ...alright, that's enough... ...

Well I'll tell you this, I love to spin, I love to merge sound, I have always maintained that if I were to go deaf I would end my life as I don't see me being deaf as a life worth living. From the time I was a kid and I had my first radio with a double cassette deck I would mix tapes, create loops from shit off the radio, I was always into percussion, took my first drum lesson when I was 8 years young, Bass has always been an addictive thing for me, and becoming turntableist was a natural progression and when I listen to music I hear it different than some of you might, or should I say I listen to it different, ask any DJ., when a Goer hears a track, they hear a song, they describe it as a dirty electro track with female vocals, ect.. but when a I hear a track I listen to it and count the bars, listen for the BPM how long are the builds, what can I cut out, what it would sound like with this or that effect, what effect was used and where, would I speed it up, slow it down ect.. I could go on forever. I think goers have a great respect for a good DJ or even one that's trying really hard, I know I do, and I try teach alot of my friends to spin and man, they try, and try and try, lets not beat around the bush here they would not the best room to be in, just yet, if you know what I mean,. and I respect them for trying to learn, and I respect them for all the train wrecks, shoes in the dryer, and I have even heard some beat matching that reminded me of the sound from when when I fell down the stairs in my old house.

point is they will get better and better, and better if they stick with it and will learn new things more than I know and could be the next Tiesto, if that happened I would have to kill them, because I can't frigging stand Tiesto and he is the reason I no longer spin trance, REAL TRANCE anyway.. I think people want to be friends with the DJ because a good DJ is usually smart, funny, like to party, knows good music, good drugs, bad drugs already knows a bunch of really cool people who are chill and all respect each other, I hate to Quote Ali G but "it is all about respek fo wan uh dudda, and who doesn't want to get to know someone they respect or look up to.
I do.

heh yeah I started off in a similar way.. I was remixing stuff before I even knew what a remix was. I had a 40 meg hard drive and a 286 with Windows 3.11 on it, and I would use multiple copies of Sound Recorder to clip out loops and parts of tunes that I liked and layer them together, all in sound recorder. Took 4 years of doing that before I discovered Impulse Tracker.

Listening to music now, I can't help but think "What if I add a beat like this to it... Would this sound good in DnB or breaks? Oooo that was a cool fill, I wonder if I can chop it and mangle the fuck out of it and make it sound cool.."
I'm feeling sleepy right now..

That's quite a tallent you got there Marc!...but did you know that Axel Foley was originally going to be played by Sylvester Stallone? Stallone had a conflict of intrest with the director regarding how he wanted the character to be portrayed and ended up leaving the project. As fate would have it, Stallone maintained the character that he wanted to create and used some of his script ideas to make the movie Cobra which came out 2 years later.

Bro, I think Chris Sheppard already went down that road, it's been done, now if you cold find a midget to stand on your table and switch vinyl for you and dance between tracks that would be SICK.

or if you could get a midget to stand on your vinyl spinning around and shit that would be infinetely cooler. I'd pay to see that. If you could scratch that be even sicker.

It amuses me that most people I meet at parties/raves are djs and I'm a pretty anti social person so it's not like I meet tons of people. It makes me get the feeling that everyone is ( or wants to be) a dj now... not like I'm really one to talk since I'm currently learning how...very slowly
I'm feeling pissed off right now..
