i can't believe "work of fiction"...that's rediculous...look at all the american propaghanda that has EVER been introduced into this world, and you're bashing on someone trying to right a thousandth of a percent of their wrongs, by bringing mostly true facts, some of which may be taken from older polls or taken from polls done by themselvs...

his sources can't be proved???

how much funded reasearch have you done into finding this out, most people, WON'T let their sources out no matter what they're researching

like i said in my first post, i was a little dissapointed with some of his direction in the film, and how some of the things in it were there to make them seem that much more succesful and what not, but generally he's not to far off with alot of the statements he makes...

but then again, of coarse, the case of his portrayed images of canada, which made me pretty upset...

the charelton heston stuff, i don't believe we were suppost to beilieve that it was FROM those meetings after the shooting, i believe it was suppost to make people realize just HOW twisted the gun lovers way IS...

"Bowling for Columbine" is basically just as skewered, biased, and one-sided as the worst right wing propaganda out there.

It's not going to convince anyone to change their minds because its so full of holes, exagerations, and borderline lies that its easy to dismiss.

Yeah, no Canadians ever lock there front doors. Right? And he proved it so convincingly, didnt he?

Fuck that.

I think its pointless to counter right wing propaganda with left wing propaganda, because then all you get is two schools of people listening to their own preference for propaganda.

How about actually forming an intellegent argument that actually has the potential to make people change their minds? Chomsky can do that very well, but Moore simply cant.

He's the George Bush of the left.

Moore can, and does, but he does it in a way that makes the everyday ordinary average (hahaha three)
will listen and not fully zone out...

chomsky is an intelligent person, but i can't see what he does as anything more brilliant than moore...

chomsky's dusty pbs style may paint more thourough pictures, but he can't keep audiences attention to break grounds with them... moore may lack thourough detail, but he has a sense of what will get to people and what might sway individuals...

put the fatty and the nerd together, and you've got a pretty powerfull weapon, on their own, they're one can short of a six pack...

if you want to make a persuasive argument, you need to start by actually providing solid facts and details, and then make your argument based on a solid foundation

if you don't, the only people that will agree with you are the people who were inclined to see things that way to begin with

Moore basically starts out by bombarding you with half-baked facts, and then making conclusions based on these "facts" which are very shaky and obviously manipulative

so anyone that disagrees with Moore (no matter how stupid they are) can just point out the poor foundation upon which Moore bases his arguments, and say "hey..something doesn't quite make sense here" and then totally dismiss his final argument

on the other hand, when you make an argument based on indisupateble facts, its alot harder to challenge, because people can't be so dismissive

i totally agree with you, that some of moores points and his "proof" is flimsy, but you can't argue that he isn't right, america IS a country based on fear, and also prejudice...and his pop-art film does a decent job at portraying that, well, not the prejudice part, that's my own POV
