If you play two copies of the same record (or a CD and the vinyl version) simultaneously (at the same pitch) and give one of them a slight push it gives the most fucked up flanger sound.

NOW THAT'S INTERESTING

actually that's a chorus effect. That slight push gives it a slightly modulated pitch shift by a few cents. Flanging originally was done within a studio with a tape-machine. They would record one track on 2 chanels and when they would mix down, they would gently press on the tape reel of one of them so that it would slow it down slightly. Both motors were motorised so the tape was being stretched slightly and would pitch-shift down. When you let it go, it would snap back to it's original position and cause a slight pitch shift up and then back down to normal. Which is why digital flangers, as cool as they sound, are nowhere near the original sound.

And yes, I have great respect for fruity loops. I'm using it as a testing grounds in my current compusition. I'm doing everything with simsynth and Plucked! with the intention of being played on real instruments. Now, I need a string section, some brass, an organ, a cello and someone with a sid station... :P

pff. Just because when you people make music with fruity loops it all comes out sounding the same or like crap doesn't mean the program sucks.

no, Traktor does not have 3 decks... however, i like to run 2 copies of Traktor at the same time... and since I have 3 Monitors on my Computer, I can have Fruity Loops in one Monitor, and Traktor in each of the other 2 Monitors.... 3 sound cards, 2 Amps, and 4,000Watts ( 8 ohms+ ) of Sound.

I love to use all the same stuff as Spook does as well... and i'm just starting with Fruity Loops.... and fallen in love with it as well... hehehe
