Yes it would. I honestly can't believe you can't make the difference between 85% of a given country's population aggressively taking it to the streets disrupting the regular course of urban activities and 200 people quietly camping in a square somewhere in town.

Meh. It's a personal choice, no doubt, but I don't believe you NEED to be aggressive in order to get a point across

We'll see if anything REALLY changes in those countries. Have the new governments in place done anything to alleviate the suffering of the people? Probably not...

Chances are it'll just go back to the same ol same ol

Yup, and we have always had that right in North America, thats nothing new. Choosing capitalism is also a choice, a choice that the people of North America made. Im not saying I agree with it, but it is the way our mentality is driven

Ever wonder why in North America we judge a person by how much money they make? If you dont make money you're not as good as the other guy whos got more money, so you have a nation of people trying to outdo each other to see who can consume the most and make the most money.

Its the rampant materialism thats killing us, not rich people

Not really, what are people gonna riot over? The fact they were stupid enough take out loans they could never pay back? Or the fact they ELECTED the government thats in place?

Now honestly, you can't go saying that 'this is capitalism, deal with it' because capitalism isn't necessarily about abusing power and making money at the expense/detriment of your fellows - we're talking about ppl who greedily abuse the system and leave others high'n'dry.

The protestors aren't trying to offer a solution (though I'm sure they all have their own Utopian ideas) they just want the ppl in charge to do their job and fix the problem ...

And, it's interesting that when the right-wing dissent it's called a (tea) party, when the left dissents it's an 'occupation' - like they're fuckin' evil nazi invaders or something o_O

just passed by there this evening...

bunch of people quietly protesting in a squarre..

a lots of media and a lots of police and all their arsenal..

few people naked with body paint on in a corner doing weird things..

a huge tam tam circle pit whatever they call it.. like at the mont-royal but like in a circle. ha!

majority of the protesters seems to have a very pacific approach and do not fight or insult or have any violent behaviors towards the police; trying to make the police participate in the whole thing, which for me was a first...

i saw many protesters happily taking pictures with smiling cops. being like "high 5 broooo"

it's like a big family party down there. actually i thought it was looking and having the ambiance of a mtl free techno party hahaha

i even noted how people doesn't seem angry i was telling my american friends how in my country we were really much more passionate and revolted about shit who stinks.

anyway... weird. weird. weird.

Actually that is precisely what pure capitalism is about. I've studied business. Capitalism's sole purepose is too make money.

But again, thats the system the American people swear by and have tried to sell the rest of the world for ages. Its called the "American Dream" or something

Exactly thats why these idiots should be doing something more constructive with their time instead of blocking bridges

In the US the government is elected by the people. The people choose the government in place.
The solution, vote in another government next time, thats what democracy is all about

Occupation, now thats interesting. I remember the United States (and its people) uninaterally invading an independent country about 10 years ago. A place called Irak, they killed about 300,000 civilians, just for fun.

Problem is, it cost them trillions of dollars. Wierdly enough their national debt is also trillions of dollars. Wow that must be a crazy coincidence. Who would have known that wars can bankrupt a nation.

One solution would be for the Amercian people to stop invading countries so we dont have to listen to them whine about being broke over it later.

The American Dream has more to do with democracy and the moral equality of all Americans, than it does with capitalism. Actually, the type of capitalism that has been unfolding in the U.S. for the past 30 years has nothing to do with the American Dream.
The protesters at Liberty square know this.

The protesters dont know squat. I've watched videos of these people. They seem confused and clueless. These arent the kind of people you want running things.

As for the Amercian Dream, it is bascially about money

that girl at the end seems cool, i'd hit it.

as for bliss,

you know those last lines in the video i posted where they say "artists, move the movement, stoke the flames" that was directed at you, why don't you take an hour or two off the internet chat forums and make a track for the kids of the movement, huh, how about it?

oh wait you don't make tracks, cause, well you can't. That's right you re just a fucking wannabe, you know Steve Lalla is ten times the DJ you will ever be Bliss, but you don't hear him brag about it ever do you? Certainly not every five minutes like you do. Fucking tool.

watch your self bliss or i'll boot you from this thread, i'll do it, you watch me!

Well it certainly isn't just the "rich" top 1% fault.
Being poor doesn't excuse one for being dumb. One can buy/rent a roof, they just need to get one that they can afford first. Later on, they can upgrade...little by little. Improving one self > comparing one's wealth to other people. That's just envy.

This Occupy WallStreet is nothing compare to the Arab Spring. People died in that uprising and many people still are.

I'm saying in this context; Whether you kill one man or commit a genocide, you're still guilty. Of course the harshness of the punishment should be relatively proportioned to the crime.
