I'd think the 500 bad drummers would cause more noise issues than a couple of 200 watt speakers

this is actually a really good idea, make the motherfuckers play hide and seek with you all day,

just be careful what you do, the tone of the letter is pretty harsh at the end they seem to suggest that they don't have problem with getting cops to turf you guys...Noah you shouldn't do anything illegal from now on at the mountain, you have become the spokes person for the mountain, so you should not be involved with anything that they can say 'you did it'. I'm serious they will be looking to get you for public mischief and disturbing the peace etc etc...what would be interesting would be if a bunch of people chained themselves to each other with hand cuffs and to the speakers and refused to leave, but Noah you shouldn't do it or organize anything to do with it....

try to remember what you re doing is important, no one has ever stood up to the city like you guys are trying to, it's been going on for years back and forth (i think they think that you'll give up every fall and just won't do it come the spring they obviously don't know you)

it's about who is going to give up first you or the city

the police are looking pretty bad these days (they shot an innocent dude the other day) so they may be easy on you, but if city hall leans on them, well, they'll do their job.

find out who the MNA and MP are for those districts and try to talk, noah you are a constituent, you can demand to see your representative. Tell your representatives if they refuse to help you, that you will organize a movement to unseat them next time they are up for election and you won't forget even if it is a few years...

Above all else, get the press and Tv involved, hope to reach a critical mass, and then you may have people who step forward in positions of power who side with you...

it may be david v goliath but it's all about endurance,
I'm feeling surly right now..

It sucks, but that's their stance on it.

Your lack of faith is unacceptable!

EXECUTION!!

*USSR ATHEM PLAYING*
:-P

Ok seriously,

We need to keep pressure on them. It's useless if you give up each time someboby say NO to you the first time. With good arguments and demonstrations, you can sell any salad.

...and perhaps we can "be tolerated" as they said.

Ravers...I have a dream
lol ;-)

When a lady tells you no, do you harass them into submission?

All kidding aside, I was just saying that the city has a whole lot of ammo to make sure it's shut down and stays shut down.
I'm feeling so many robots! right now..

sure but they can't be everywhere, 10 sound systems...that'll be a lot of foot patrols to find them...

@basdini: That's beside the point, 10 sound systems or not, the city has rules in place that should they choose to enforce would basically rid them of the events at the gazebo entirely.

I think being aggressive about it will only give them more ammo to shut it down completely without looking twice.

Yeah. true. Real ammo too. Some rookie Montreal's Finest will probably shoot down an innocent citizen for protesting his/her right for assembly.

No but I can ask her gently a second time another day, haha

I know you were kidding but there`s a difference between harrassing someone and fighting for something.

See...

Apples-----------Oranges

Never blend them! ;-P

I think were in the good way (for now) with petitions, facebook page and mini-protest. They need to see that it will be less annoying if they lets us do what we want.

Im sure it was a similar story for the Tam's

Just out of curiosity...have you guys had a "music @ the mountain" day which involves music other than 140+ BPM psytrance/hardstyle/hardcore/dubstep?
I'm feeling focused right now..

that's it! the cops/city hate psytrance!!!

you should set up one day, and play Jazz, Blues, Classical etc, and see if it even gets shut down!
I'm feeling like a sketchbook! right now..

We could all show up in three piece suits wearing monocles and listen to classical music whilst sipping down on some tea, Victorian style.
I'm feeling mischiveous right now..

seriously tho! classical music, on the same set up as usual, in the same spot as usual...
and just see, if the cops are biased on the style of music being played.
I bet they would still shut it down, but would be a fun test.

yeah, absolutely dude... in fact i remember this one particular producer/dj creating his own beats on the spot, if i remember correctly he basically had a board/mixer set up with different frequencies /sounds/effects (w/e) on it to create music live. honestly something i'd never seen before tbh lol it was uhh... interesting ^^ the mountain is all about diversity and multiculturalism. it's not a set scene. It promotes growth and change, it's just acceptance that's key which the city doesn't understand...

hope that made sense, i just got in and i've had a few haha, cheers

update - bpms were a far cry from 140 lol
