If some people like that kind of stuff, what can I say.
No headliners, local deejays, carbon copy sets for the Tuesday before.
And all that for an event that ends at 4:30 am.
Yeah, shure whatever guys. Keep it up.

:p

I've had a few conversations with people who go to Ayahuasca ceremonies, and one fellow in particular was really curious about the viability of throwing raves.

He was shocked and disappointed to learn that it is extremely difficult to get rave patrons interested in events priced higher than $30; he and his buddies regularly spend $150-$200 on their events, which have far less frills... for example, no electricity.

So... the acid should be provided at future raves, as the cactus is at Ayahuasca events?

Either that, or don't hold it in a bar. More people might've been interested last-minute if they knew they could at least BYOB in peace.

:-) Thanks for the good times.

acid provided in a rave, it*s been done before at one psychotrop event... and resulted in calling 2 ambulances in the night, because you can*t just give acid to everyone like that, some can*t handle it. it*s great to be all on the same drugs in a private party, but when dealing with people you don*t know, it*s pretty risky buisness... as much as i*d looove to see everyone trip out, i don*t think it*s a good idea for a rave...

competition was tight between this one and electronik brain...
but also; electronik brain could have used international deco artist,
and andromeda could have used international headliner...
why not work together?

I may agree that 20 to 40 $ is a good price for a party in that place, but the thing is we never know where the party is gonna take place.

A lot of times, the promoters say "Awesome new venue!!" and it just ends up being at St. Patrick again because of some last minute problem.

The issue at hand is that people with nice venues don't want to go to 8:00 am, and those that are willing are either desperate or really expensive. Also If you reserve the venue very early on before you announce the party, then you run the risk of it being busted, closed down, or raped before your event.

However I know you guys put a lot into this one, you were definitely on top of everything. Sometimes a magnitude of reasons outside of your control hurts your attending. I don't think your party was a failure by any means though; an extra 50 people would have probably made the difference.

C'est pas trop comparable, pcq on avait aussi un headliner qui coûtait 3000$ Nos prix étaient complètement justifiés ;) Cette salle est superbe mais ouais elle coûte cher. Il faut travailler fort pour la rendre rentable!

so you paid 3000$ for a painter ? Sorry to break your bubble, he did a nice work, but people who came to our party came to see Frankie Bones, the guyz who brought rave to the north American culture, a legend. So yeah , asking 40$ at the door for him was totally justified. If you paid 3000$ for a painter / decorator, , the point is you still have the same local dj's over and over in your line-up and don't excpect people do not complain about it.

lol seriously, what the fuck! Man it's $20 CAN (14 euro) to get into the Louvre with a ticket that gives you access to the whole museum.. Ok so there's no all-local-DJs-that-are-always-playing-together-three-days-a-week lineup, but seriously? $3000 for some guy that no one will remember next week, let alone in a few hundred years?

Have you ever heard of sobriety? It's worth a try..

i support the idea to bring an international painter.

the rave is not just music, if it were, there would be no difference between it and a rock concert. the rave is an immersive experience into another universe. it is important to put care on the decoration, on the lights, on the music progression, on the vibe in general, on the message you project out there also.

i was not to this party, but i know this painter has pieces that do exactly that - metaphorically take you to another universe.

the cult of the headliners, the cult of the djs, is something that is a bit against the rave philosophy, and that belongs more into the principle of rock shows, rock stars, inflated egos, etc. the rave is just dancing in this environment where your senses are opened, taking in the beauty. yes you need good music, but the local djs can totally provide it. and yes you need a visual support, and this deco headliner guy totally provided it.

go bitch somewhere else. :)

I didn't know expressing opinion was bitching? People complained there was only locals dj's, and yup it's true . Art is art, but it's not everyone who are willing to pay 40$ for deco and you have to respect that. So yup the artist did a great job, but they didn't had enough people to fill this expensive room. Doing a party is mathematics. Being a promoter means business for your information Kund.da.li.ni and if people are willing to pay to hear music they love made by artist that cost more cuz they will only see them once or twice in their life, you have no right to judge that.. The *rave* philosophy was brought by Frankie Bones itself in North America, and for dealing with him, he is a business man. He brought the idea from a ghetto party in the UK in a hangar ... and guess what ?there was no deco and surely not *lights*.Electricity was a + at the beginning of the rave scene... You have your own ideology of what *raves* are supposed to be, well it's your idealistic, that doesn't mean it's the reality.

When planning an event don't make your break even the capacity of the venue... It's better to have a break event with half the venue being filled and the other half can be profit.
