well ya. I thought it was still really dope right through 96.

then in 97 the golden age was *definitely* over. it went all jiggy and pop with Mace and Puff Daddy and Lil Kim.. really shallow materialistic bullshit.. rapping about how many luxury cars and fur coats they bought that week, Moschino this and Versace that... wack

but in 96 it was still rugged. I was going to hip hop nights pretty much every Thursday and Saturday and there was mad tunes getting played

for example, all these tracks are from 96.. classic ish

I would have to say DJ International Records was the label for me. :)

As for "I'll House You", I can't consider this as an original hip-house track since it's basically the Jungle Brothers rapping on top of Royal House's ( Todd Terry ) "Can You Party" instrumental track which was already a successful track before the Jungle Bros raped...erm rapped on it. :)
