I was a really tiny scrawny kid and was quiet and introverted so I caught Hell from these guys when I was 12 I remember they stole my bike and kept telling me I could find it in different locations. I never did get it back. they terrorized a lot of us. really mean tough kids.. so when they'd see me out at parties I'd often get singled out by them and fucked with. It wasn't until I was 17 or so, when I was working out, taking kickboxing and sparring 3 nights a week, that I finally was confident enough with my fighting ability. so I finally did snap on the guy who who stole my bike and picked on me all those years, and I really fucked up his program, and his two friends just stood and watched. it got pretty ugly. I punked him off really badly. but he deserved every bit of it. ironically, after that, not only was he never a problem, but he genuinely wanted to be friends with me. he actually wound up inviting me to his wedding. it's funny how people change like that, once you put them in their place. |

I'd never start them, but some of the older guys would instigate it with me.. they'd shoulder me, hit my books out of my hand, whatever.. and I'd just react to that. I was a blue belt in karate, so even though I was shrimpy kid, I knew how to hit, and do some good kicks and throws. so that definitely helped a lot. I'd give em a couple bruises, and sometimes I'd get the same, and that'd be the end of it. usually we'd wind up laughing about it when we got older. and I *wished* I would have got sent home for suspensions! back then, the one vice-principal loved to give me all-day detentions. that means you only get 2 ten minute breaks - one in mid-morning, one in mid-afternoon. and you eat your lunch in the detention room. brutal. |
