Robocopy comes with vista and windows 7... if you use windows xp you need to download the windows server 2003 resource kit... it runs in windows xp... remember windows server 2003 is ancient.

Watch out cause mirring will delete everything you deleted also on the destination directory... Don't make a mirror to D:\ unless you want D:\ to be exactly like C:\ you should make your destination D:\Backup\ if you have other files on D:\ you need. Hard to explain but... It works great when you know how to use it...

id do it manually . with a certain linux distro i used to name a lot . once windows claimed the partition was invalid , unmountable etc.. i booted that perticular linux distro and got it all mounted .
i dont trust auto programs as certain filenames can get excluded because of special characters , or series of from traversing a tree and end up passing commands or just glitching the copy mechanism. if you need my help you always know where to reach me kuzu . and speaking of its been a while buddy , hope you have a nice year and this been the only bad concern you may have this year and just cruisecontrol onward from there :D .

Carbon Copy Cloner works for that too, for anyone trying to clone on Bootcamp. Really good program, I managed to clone an old hard drive and make it my main drive, and then successfully did the same for the Windows partition from my mother's IMac (before wiping it to install Win7). I dunno, that program is pretty solid. Don't know if it works with Tuxera NTFS or not but I'd imagine it does a fine job.

premptively what helps for always imminent and i-cant-stress-how-necessary backups are striping the special chars and lengts of them , cause further along the ride if you send that file in a deeper location in a tree they can become troublesome on some platforms. to politely not point microsoft windows.
but have you guise ever looked at these : [ en.wikipedia.org ] and how some can completely f up while others are complete reliable recordable mediums. the best been the least talk about if you ask me. but it lacks unicode reliability. i lost a few wiki pages cause of greek caracters out of my fs codepage... imo ffs [ en.wikipedia.org ] is a really good medium to backup long audio sessions
