it's actually interesting to discuss what makes people unhappy about 2010 and settle any issues between the scenes for a fresh and good 2011...
I'm feeling authenthic right now..

I think it's pretty fucking stupid how I've seen at least 3 comments directed at na saying "if you want more hardcore, make hardcore parties"... we're talking about one of the hardest working person in the rave scene...

I've seen this guy trying to build a hype around his night and break his back to make people happy, swimming against the tide. In the end, against all odds, I think he got to the point where he does run a relatively successful night... obviously if there's shit thrown around implying that there is too much hardcore in parties, he's bound to get a bit emotional about it innit! Don't mind him, he's just a bit grumpy when his out of line vertebraes give him unbearable pain... fuck's sake

...

he created the night, he has it.
you have what you create.
it's not a negative thing to say, it can also be taken in it's positive sense.
you just decide to take it as a negative thing, like the glass is half empty and there is not enough to make you happy?
love what you have, have what you love.

people in psy work hard to make lots of people come to their events. i really don't think that they 'steal' attendance from the hardcore nights. they just distribute their flyers all the time (which i think gets really obnoxious, but well... apparently it works...)
Update » AYkiN0XiA wrote on Tue Jan 18, 2011 @ 3:37pm
and for the record.......... there were the Quantun Ascention nights [ www.rave.ca ] on tuesdays way before the hardcore event started on tuesdays, so your whole argument on 'stealing' the night does not even work........... :/

I take it you don't so, yeah whatever. Not gonna try to prove anything to you.
Obviously hopeless.

@JamesBrown: No threat at all, chill ta moule chouette.
Just venting my frustration at this whole mess.

For the record, I love psy. I loved it when you two were still playin' with your poop, and most likely will still love it whan you move on to the next big hype.

I was talking about creating parties not bar nights... Since this thread is best party of 2010 not best bar night and people were complaining there were not enough hardcore parties.

It's pretty easy to make a party if you have at least 125 people who enjoy the music and can fork out 20$ each.

1000$ location
1000$ sound and lights
240$ djs
----------------------
2240$

2240$ / 20$ ticket = 112 tickets...

3$ water bottle @ 112 people = 336$ profit as a bonus...

It just takes someone to make the party and take the risk!

ugh .. there was not supposed to be any anti-psy sentiment here, i just asked that people not bash other styles in a 'BEST OF' thread. happy hardcore was included in that original negative statement, and i don't do happy, but i was still taken aback by the comment.

Don't get all paranoid now, psy-people! and don't worry, i won't list the 100s of things i've heard said and seen done by certain factions of the psy scene that maybe y'all are unaware of, that'd make you quiet down a bit ... anyway, i never said anything about the success of either scene! just asked not to get shit on. Yoshin turned this into a 'well, if your scene sucks work harder' argument. hard-stuff is doing just fine, thnx!

i like most types of techno. i've supported all the other scenes. my night did really well (and it wasn't just HC - there was even supposed to be psy too, but well, another night popped up) , and will continue to my standards when it comes back in the spring. i also like that the HC scene isn't as pop as the rest. i think we can all have a good time while we have our batcaves, and the rest dance on the grass above us. just remember, that doesn't make you above us.

anyway, peace and all that jazz .. didn't mean to turn this into a pissing contest, just wanted to ask the preachers to talk about love, not sin.

kthnxbye.

Like Nate said, there's plenty of hardcore to go around for hardcore lovers.
We're just a little fucking annoyed at leelte psy-kids saying "Best parties are the parties without hardcore." The psy scene is always going around preachin Ohm, pEace, acceptance, respect and all that shit, yet, the go and diss any other genre they can get their little hands on. pErsonally, I vote for Karma to give some psy promoter a swift kick in the butt. And I kinda have a feeling it's in the mail.

Get with the times, The way i see it, A really good friend of mine brocke his back to give what was left of the hardcore community a night out, on tuesdays, you know, so he would not mess up the other peoples event. Being all nice and shit. And Next thing you know, Psy kids started trhowing a night ON FRIGGIN' TUESDAYS, like there's no other day for them to suck their attendees dry. And it's not like they give themselves the trouble of booking headliners. SO, they just have to go out and make a weekly event in direct competition with Nate's night. Who was trying to stay out of the way.

So Yeah, I really like psy, it's just what you peeps turned it into I hate.

Thanks for nothing.

I didn't see anyone actually write the best parties are the ones without hardcore... In my post, I certainly didn't imply it, was a simply reference to my taste of music, and not events. Also, I don't think there are any psy event organizers that posted in this thread... perhaps you know that they have that specific attitude...? However, I do agree that there seems to be a lot of competition within the scene, although I think life is like that in general. Moreover, the ones who throw the tuesday and wednesday events are not the peace ohm preaching kind psy-organizers (unless there is a hippie night I don't know about).

In general, "best party of 2010" is a subjective topic in nature, and if there are more psy parties per month or per year as well as more active [ rave.ca ] users that listen to psy (I don't actually know, just saying, if), there is a very high probability that more psy events will get mentioned. Which is no way directly related to the quality or frequency of other music-type parties.

I don't go to parties other than psy (if there are several rooms with different kinds or music, I really don't care, I go if there is a good psy room), so I could not possible vote in another event, which again, means nothing other than a way to express my taste in music.

Lastly, I know several promoters and party goers of different styles of music, and they are just as ohm as the psy guys (if my generalize for argument sake), they just don't preach it and put hindu posters up.

anwyays...
I'm feeling punkadelic right now..
