Most of the time, the DJ are faulty for bad sound quality...They dont understand that each piece of gear have is limit, begining with how they record their musics. Start with a 128kb MP3 and that's final. That will not sound good anywhere. If they understand this, that's good begining. After this point, if they EQ the music, they have to be very carefull. Cheap Behringer home monitor ARE NOT GOOD to do any EQ on a song, or for mastering. That could only be done with a 10 000$ and more CALIBRATED speakers. And now, in an event...If they overdrive the input of the mixer, forget it again! Same apply for the master output. Most pro sound guy will use compressor, multi-band or simple unit, usualy setted at +4db on the mixer, dont ask to remove them, they dont trust DJ to leave a sound system un-protetced, so live with it and remember that after +4db, DJ run into limiter. Now, if it's too loud, even if you run at -10db, use your brain and keep the level under that! The sound will just be good as the sound guy adjust it! On the other side, if you need to push the mixer at +10db to get your desired level, change your sound company, they dont provide you enought power! Sorry for the HHC room, I think we put a bit too much of power and DJ's did'nt realise it...
I'm feeling summer rush! right now..

It was dubstep. Dubstep is terrible.

I personally had an awesome time at this party, Thank you to Space-Kat and Pro Fete, you guys did a GREAT job. I hope to see more parties of this caliber in the future!

S3RL Rocked it hard. So glad I ended up going out to this.

the only thing I think that should have been different is the locations of rooms. I was disappointed to see the hardcore room was the small room with no ventilation in the back. It honestly makes me sick to see that psy has taken over Montreal's scene. You guys used to have hardcore parties every weekend and now I'm surprised if I find more than 2 a year. The joke about "the since dieing" isn't much of a joke anymore. You've let yourselves be run down by the hippies.

I don't care what any of you psy trancers think about this post either. I've made it VERY clear over the years that psy is the ONE type of music I can NEVER stand/like. So this shouldn't come as any surprise.

I used to love going to Montreal, So much so that people thought I lived there all the time, now I feel it's a chore to go there. There's nothing going on other than psy or dubstep events. bring the Hardcore scene back Montreal!!
I'm feeling owwwww! right now..

omg I love this post haha it amused me.

I am not the one who will start and say any kind of crap, i usually let people live. but as many of the psytrancers don't do the same and seem to like laughing at kandykids and happy hardcore fans, I think I can at least say for once that I totally agree with everything in this post.

but again... This party was really nice and I had a great time! :)
I'm feeling happy right now..

I'm feeling good right now..

I'm feeling happy right now..

Nobody dissed Hardcore here, what the hell are you on about Martin? And Tuez, psy and harcore catter to different crowds, so there's no taking over going on. If Hardcore isn't as strong as it once was, it's nobody else's responsibility than the people involved in it. Psy parties in & around Montreal showcase real care in deco, sound and overall quality, which results in great vibes. No wonder they get a strong following, and clearly deserved the main room Friday.

Wow, est-ce si difficile de faire cohabiter trois genres musicaux différents le temps d'une soirée? :P
I'm feeling motivated right now..

yup.

couldn't go to this (work among other reasons) but i have to say that agree that Circus is no place to be throwing 'raves', on the other hand, this is how little choice we have left for venues, and that is pretty sad. i doubt that anybody really wanted the party to be there, but what choice do ppl have? some day soon, we're all gonna have to get together and build our own fucking place that we can do anything we want with, 'cause it'll be our house. with no neighbours. =)

life is about things dying. the hard part, is keeping 'em alive . . .

first someone says hardcore is commercial, and people say that it's not.
then someone says that hardcore should have gotten the bigger room.
isn't this contradiction?

anyways all i say is that the hardcore room should have gotten at least some ventilation. more bpm = more ventilation. :P

---------------------------------------------------------------

Alors, ca tu finis cette gué-guerre ?!?!?

Retournez-donc au topic SVP...

Still recovering... will write full review/thanks after everything settles down.

This party was about doing something different, and having variety. Despite what many of you guys say... Circus is an awesome venue... space and structural wise. We wanted to do something a little bit more professional, having clean bathrooms, professional security, etc. Management on the other hand was anything but professional, the dj booth in the hardcore room? The fans? waiting 2 hours on water for artists... yeah lots of issues.

Psytrance has been big in Montreal for years, so I don't really know what you are talking about Bobbie... but I do agree that there arn't enough hardcore parties, which is why we wanted to have a hardcore room. The dubstep room had little attendance due to two competing events, and a lot of people who like dubstep do not enjoy the other genres.

Overall we have learned a lot from all of this, and we will hopefully continue to throw events in the future.
The sound in the hardcore room was super loud because DJ's kept turning it up, at one point I had to let them know that it was too loud.

An indoor party and an outdoor party/festival are two completely different things, and different environments.
I'm feeling dum deee dum right now..

of course they are two different things. my point is that you should not call it a rave if it's in an afterhours settings. just this.
the party in itself was awesome. just there was a bit of false representation involved, and being honest and to the point with stuff like this could grant you a lot more integrity as a promoter in the future.
I'm feeling love right now..

For Myself and outside rave it's also a false representation...

When you get the sun in your face @ 5:00 and get dust everywhere...

But who care's what type of rave you love, love it, don't bash any other kind.

Some call the black and blue a rave...
