How Often Do You Rave?

 Coolness: 509515 | I got to thinking today how I personally went to raves, like once every few months. I would wait for the 'good' ones, and I thought to myself:"Hey, maybe that's why I'm still around."
So how often do YOU go to raves? Do we have any 'every weekenders' here that have been at it for years? (other than Noah ;)) Otherwise, does going to raves every weekend cause the massive turnover we see? I mean, let's be honest, no one can take them drugs every weekend and continue to live (or want to continue to live) a normal life, or can they? Maybe the every weekenders don't take drugs every weekend? and if you're gonna say that not all ravers take drugs, don't bother, I'm already sketched out by your naiveté! |

 Coolness: 166530 | i used to rave every weekend at some point. now sometimes i do. sometimes i can spend a month without raving but it makes my head crazy. i need the dancing. :)
ideally though it would be something like 2 times a month. with one big party and one smaller party (like all night house parties or the dongeon or something) and if i don't go to school, make that every weekend :) i can afford to do this since... 2003 now so it's almost 7 years. not all ravers take drugs all the time. last time i've taken drugs was... in december. not in a rave. it was for a school project, i wanted to paint on acid... and before that was at psy-mind, last november. i'd say allover, 75% of parties i go sober, because i have too much responsibilities and i don't want to have my head fucked up. and i just love dancing. i've learned what acid does to your brain when you dance, and i make the effort to go there without the drug. i love them drugs though, but i know i can't take them all the time. plus i don't have budget for that, i'd rather buy paints and stuff :) |

 Coolness: 140010 | i started going to 3 raves a weekend to 1 once in a while... i think it tends to go with your "experiances" and drugs... you go to one the 1st time you're like : WOW i'm high it's awesome. everybody loves you, to : i know more about the music and prefer some types of techno more than others and dj's more than others so i'll go to those one instead... maybe i'm wrong... |

Festivals: 1-2 per year Electronic dance music club nights and shows: 8-12 per year The last rave I went to was in mid-December, so 5 months now, but 8-16 events per year...thats like once every 3-6 weeks. I go out a lot less these days. I've begun to notice, that I too, am becoming one of the older people in the scene at my age. Also, some raves become less enjoyable as you grow up. Like I still enjoy the odd HHC rave here and there, but it means having the same random conversations with different 16 y/o about how they popped 23 pills and PLUR is their religion. And I feel sketchy feeling like the only 20+ male with 14 y/o girls all around me. So I tend to avoid them. Its been over a year since I've been to one now. But I am thinking of going to one next week, which Im kinda excited for. |

It was more in context to the original poster, who is about the same age as me. If you started raving at 14-17, you notice that a lot of friends have come and gone, and there not quite so many of you left as you get into 21-24 group. And 22 feels old for the hhc scene. |

i was always a lot more into psy so at 25 now i still don't feel old. i'm right in the age range of those parties :P at 19-22 i felt young and shy in the older crowd :P |

When I moved to Quebec city, it was EVERY raves (so...once a month?) and I would spend pretty much all my friday nights at electronic music nights. Now it's pretty much once/twice a month into electronic music nights. In one year, I've been to 3 raves only. |

Not naive dude, it's true. I never did drugs at raves, and some of my friends are the same. :) I've been raving since nearly 7 years (Impact in 2003 was my first one), but I never did the whole "raving every weekend" thingie. Because not all parties interest me, because I want to keep it special, because I have other things to do sometimes! ^__^ What I realised is that lots of people begin to rave, then they all go "rave-obsessed" and they go to EVERY rave for 1-2 years, taking drugs and all, and then, next thing you know, they're all jaded and bitching about everything, and their neurones are fried. So I think excess is not a good thing. I mean, most people begin raving at 16-17. But some of them are already jaded at 18-19 @__@ Complaining about everything like old people! And I don't really understand, because I'm older (23 I think), but I still have the "YAY PAWTEEEEE!!!!!" hype going on... Maybe that's why I get carded everywhere, still have the mind of a kid, and it shows physically... Erm sorry for long paragraph, it's just... it's one of those things I don't really understand... why some people prefer short-time excess over less partying, but for a longer time, and more intense each time... |

 Coolness: 48685 | I started partiing when I was 15 and went about once every 3 months due to living in another province, or lack of transportation in general.
When I got my liscence it went to around once every 6 weeks When i was on my own I went more then every weekend I went for weeklys and weekenders... then I realized life isnt one big party. That the ones that do that every week end up never being able to afford cars,houses, get out of school debt and build a sold future so i decided to pick and choose wisely parties. Ever since I have enjoyed and appreciated parties more. So its around once a month to 6 weeks now. I dont do house parties or bars. The only time I do a weekly is if its to promote for a party and I enjoy iot like that and so does my wallet and living space. Covers/tickets are way too much now adays to really want to live a comfrtbale life/and have a huge party life anyways Some of my best nights anyways are sexathons with my bf anyways, and i spin at home!Cant put a price on that |

i like going out once a weekend... and drink... after sitting on the computer for 40 hours a week if not more, it's nice to be able to get away from all that code work. 93% of the time i only drink. when you have a regular job, you can't start getting messed up all the time since work should always be #1 since it allows you to buy the tools that you need to have fun... without my job, i would not have most of the toys that i do have and am glad to have. |

I mean, I work hard, and party hard. Not as much as I used to, I guess everythng looses a bit over time. But I still enjoy my parties, Started going out to clubs again about once a week, raves, whenever something really good is set, or If I'm asked to help out a bit. I don't think there's a quantifiable wy of saying "too much party". I guess it's all about beeing able to balance lifestyle and worktime. I party, but I'mnot letting it get in the way of my work and responsabilities. |
