beware of the people playing the theremin!!!! last time i was there i could hardly hear the guy at the counter talking... that might be a good test for the headphones tho, to see if you can still hear while that shit is playing in the backround! hehehe

The sound is OK in that they're really loud and not headphones you'd produce with, but really that can be said of almost any pair of headphones that sells for under 400$..

The Stantons also have the MAJOR advantage of a replaceable cord.. You can pull it out of the headphones and it's a 2.5mm adapter, so you can either get an official one if your cord dies, or you can just get a generic one and fit it in.. So when your cord eventually fucks up, no need to take it to a tech, no need to open it and solder a new wire in, you just unplug it and get a new one, and your headphones are still fine!

QFT, I use those and I'm really satisfied :)
They only cost 70$, if I remember well... (bought them at Moog last summer)
+ they come with a soft cloth-inside/leather-outside carrying pouch, and a foam adapter to avoid raising your shoulder to high when wearing it only on one ear :)
I'm feeling phd powa !!! right now..

Ha you mean those fucking little annoying theremins they had at the counter at one point? I think they had like 3-4 of those going at once when I was there once. Definitely a good test, mind you there's usually someone making a lot of useless noise somewhere there
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..

I sprung for the Xone XD 53's finally... I was actually debating last minute if I should get the Senheiser HD 215's which sounded damn good and cost 80$... th HD 25s have excellent sound, but just don't 'look' cool enough, let's be honest, DJ Headphones are most than just about mixing properly, they gotta look good.

anyone can mix with enough practice, if you're up on stage, you gotta have stage presense and act the part as well as playing the part...
I'll let y'all know how the Xones work out..
I would have got the Pioneer HDJ2000s if they weren't 400$

as long as they are loud enough to be heard over a club system all that really matters is that they are loud and are durable.
buy something with metal in the head band that can fold and don't have cheaply made pivot points.
pioneers are a nice luxury...
but the plastic cracks really easy.
same with alot of the sony models.
haven't tried the allen and heaths yet but they look really nice.
honestly though...
if your on cheapo budget i'd go for the ugly ass stantons cuz they are loud as fuck, have a replacable cord and a mono switch (which really comes in handy on shady systems).
if you wanna spend a little more go for technics they are really loud and don't break.
I'm feeling republican right now..
