I have to say I really don't believe in the PLUR utopia
I still leave my seat to older people in the metro. or help blind people find ther bus/adress they where searching But that's not being PLUR, that's just being nice in my book.
I'm feeling x_x right now.. |

lets be honest, plur is just a drug fueled way to view a dystopia as something it isn't
we can all forget world issues get high and pretend it all away, super! p.s. you can block people from threads now? man ravewave changes more and more everyday!

sooo, after a mini google search, i have come to the conclusion i am old and out of date with rave-board-related acronyms. what the hell does QFT stand for?
i'm not sure if i should be coming up with a witty rebutal or appreciating the agreeance... [ acronyms.thefreedictionary.com ] who knew there were so many possibilities!

:) ...around here it usually stands for quite fucking true.
and the banning-from-threads thing comes in handy sometimes, but i think it just gives some people the ability to power trip. (power is the new peace)

ben la
ravewave was always about power trips, generally speaking drug related ones! ahhh the joys of knowing some things don't change, my heart just skipped a beat in the happpy fuzzy warm kinda way. (please note the large hint of sarcasm in my last sentence.)

I disagree, some of the nicest most PLUR oriented people I know either never take drugs or if they do its very seldom. I think while drugs may facilitate social interaction for some people in some cases, they have nothing to with the overall core values of PLUR. You don't need drugs to rave anyways

if ignorance is your bliss than sure why not.
can you really claim that peace, love, unity, and respect are plausible guidelines to live by? don't get me wrong here, i'm all for general kindness, positive thinking, and all other forms of zen-like granola kid mannerisms. However, even what you speak of isn’t necessarily plur-like. You talk of society and social norms in an idealistic sense, and i mean sure it’s fun and joy filled, but impractical in a larger sense. If you were to walk into your work place and tell your boss to have a plur-day, don’t you think he/she would look at you like you had four eyes? it's one thing to live a life adamently directed towards being a good person, it's another to expect others to follow your personal values...no? And if it's a good way to start a month, what about mid month? after all those extacy binges have caught up with you and you're dead set on hating the world and turning over a new more jaded leaf? (this was directed to a post one up, apparently i can't type fast enough) as for bliss: drug related or otherwise, i still feel that the guidelines plur stands for are unrealistic in a real world sense. maybe i'm to pesimistic, or to much of a realist, but still, that shit doesn't work on a day to day basis.

Ignorance isn't bliss by the way, personally I'd much rather know whats up than be in the dark, but hey thats just me ;)
Anyhow, the whole time I went to raves when I was younger I never did drugs I enjoyed the music, the friendliness, seeing people come together and have fun, most of my best friends I met at parties. I started raving because I saw things in it that I already liked, and even if I don't go to raves that much anymore, its still the same when I go out I danced for 2 hours non stop at Igloofest this weekend with nothing more than a coffee, surrounded by cool people having fun. It was great :) So yeah maybe I'm blissfully ignorant when it comes to drugs, but definitely still believe in PLUR

i meant ignorance is bliss is a purposefully sarcastic way, being ignorant is a personal choice and a weak one at that.
I’ve partied with drugs, as well as without. Either way it was always about enjoying the music and the good vibes, without question. I don't touch anything anymore; haven’t for years. Regardless of personal consumptions either past of present, i still stand by my original belief that plur itself belongs to a certain realm, and when taken out of said realm, it holds little weight. Being a good person is super. Believing in acronyms that are ridiculous is another. Either way, it's just the way i see it!

For sure its pretty utopic, no ones gonna follow all the aspects of PLUR all the time, but at least if they're there, people will at least TRY to follow them.
I think its still great to have a scene that is based on some, lets be honest, good values. There's a reason why there's never any fights at raves There's a reason why people get shot all the time at hip hop parties Its all about the values

Good [+1]Toggle ReplyLink» caro replied on Mon Feb 2, 2009 @ 11:53pm |
didn't someone get shot at a hulla a few years back?
my only point being: to outline that one can find fault with any scene.

If someone ever got shot at a rave (first I ever hear of this story) it was most probably by a hip hop kid who shouldn't have been there in the first place. Like when those assholes killed that guy at ARIA in that cesspool upstairs.
I can garantee you 99.99% of raves are violence free.
