I have tried to discuss with a couple of the people involved one on one. All I have received as an answer is that I'm negative for not approving of all that has happened over the years, even that I'm not welcome with my "negative" attitude. I finally have an answer for that, If it's raining out and I realize that rain helps the flowers grow that is being positive. If it's raining out and I try and convince myself it's sunny then that's denial. Ignoring problems is not positive, addressing these problems honestly and improving upon them is. Banning and belittling the people with comments you don't consider positive is not open minded, it is censorship. Anyways, I have decided not to attend this year. |

Space Gathering it's for me the best event in Quebec ever.... and who knows how much event I did since Beta in 1994 and between a lot of open air Festival hihihihi!!! :P An event where the positiv energy is powerful... and for sure we need a little bit of negativ in life... that's the power of universe YIN & YAN, SUN & RAIN, MALE & FEMALE.... I would have never even gotten involved in this public discussion if it was not for 3 things;- 1) Banning my roommate (Eatingownbrain) from the discussion 2) Declaring that the Dalai Lama will receive $5/ticket 3) I seam to be the only one who can post a critic without being banned Many years ago I boycotted Eclipse (2004?) and that same year everything went wrong. The Tech Safari team responded by simplifying and putting on a solid event the next year. I am happy they paid there dues and got there act together. They are now my favorite festival. Having said that, I hope that Space Gathering gets it's act together too. Now as far as concerns Space Gathering... Space Gathering has had many problems over the years (lets try and remain civil and not get into details here). Problems are to be expected with a festival of this size. The biggest problems I see though is with how the problems are dealt with. There is clearly a lack of responsibility and accountability. Every year the festival grows without ever having addressed the basic problems. The other thing I cannot condone/accept is the prevailing self-serving "spirituality" A wonderful example has been provided by you Melilady... Yin is Black, Female, Negative Yang is White, Positive, Male The basic philosophy is one of eternal balance between these forces. It is nothing short of blasphemous profanity (self serving "spirituality") to; 1)Claim the Positive will win in the end 2)Invert the Positive, Negative/Masculine, Feminine 3)Superimpose your personal (western?) conception of good and evil to pervert this ancient philosophy to suit your argument. Insofar as the censorship goes (rules on banning [ www.rave.ca ] ) Pleckobwoy and Eatingownbrain have personal, intimate first hand knowledge from last years Space Gathering. Where as you, Melilady, were not there, nor will you be there this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that it only happened once (2007?) that you were both involved in the organization and in attendance of the festival. Unfortunately what Pleckobwoy and Eatingownbrain have to say is more relevant than what you have to say, Melilady. Now...I hope that my critic is taken positively. I hope that Space Gathering is a success. I hope that a sense of Organization, of Responsibility, of Accountability emerges. I hope that everyone gets paid, I hope someone can produce a receipt from the Dalai Lama, I even hope that the organizers can make a profit for their troubles. It would be my GREAT PLEASURE to be wrong. If such is the case, I PROMISE to deliver a Public Apology. It is true that the group of people organizing this festival is a good group of people. I know most of them personally, but I demand more than what has been delivered in the past. Unfortunately the only tools I have at my disposal to demand more are this forum and a personal boycott. |

Je comprend très bien ton point sur les problèmes passé que Space Gathering à rencontré. Il reste tout de même que l'évènement fut bien reçu par beaucoup malgré les difficultées. Le forum est ouvert effectivement à tout commentaire sur le Festival, ainsi pourront-ils amiliorer la tenue de l'évènement, mais de venir discuter d'une problème personnelle avec un des plusieurs membres de l'équipe et ainsi créer une vibe un peu moche sur le forum du festival... je trouve ça déplacer et me permet d'en bannir l'individu... Comme je dit, il est tout à fait bien venue que les gens viennent y ajouter les suggestions pour amiliorer la tenue de l'évènement. Par exemple: Avoir un autobus écolier bien booké pour le transport de Montréal à Ste-Agathe-de-Lobinière afin de plus subir les inconvinients des bus personnel d'ami du regroupement...qui se désangage à la toute dernière minute et cause ainsi bien des sousis à des gens! Chose que je tiens à citer fut amilioré l'année dernière... Une équipe du tonnerre est sur le point d'offrir une fin de semaine lumineuse, c'est tout ce que j'ai à rajouter sur le sujet! Et je crois comme tu dis...parfois il faut être patient pour la maturité d'un fruit!!! Peace Man! |

However, it would seem that neither of you are actually confronting the issues, all your saying is, "oui mais" "yes but this", your turning in circles not actually offering a solution. Maybe there is no solution because most perceive there is no problem. However, when your clients, your friends are pleading for understanding and good communication, turning around and pretending like everything is fine is not a proper response i.e. censorship. Especially if you consider yourself friends. There is no two ways about it, several people who participated in past Space Gatherings festivals have encountered certain problems. Some were simple complaints from the attendees, which are important because it's feedback, opinions from your attendees allows you to construct a action plan for the following year. More seriously, when your employees, such as sound tech and djs, have complaints, the problem usually stems from two things (1) it's just internal bickering caused by jealousy or pride, or (2) there is a real problem, such as, poorly managed logistics resulting in employees not being paid as promised. There are several rationalizations for this behaviour which seem to exclude the fact that these djs, or more seriously sound techs, and live performers have worked hours and hours and hours at home preparing everything, they should be payed for this, let's say several bucks and hour, that's why musicians and athletes are payed outrageous amounts, because they trained for countless hours at home.
Now all this may sound off the wall because not many people are actually aware that several employees were not payed, were not offered an adequate explanation and were not promised to be payed later in the year. All the people who spoke out where black listed. Your preach love, peace and happiness when you do not even treat your employees with respect. No love, peace or happiness can stem from an environment where respect is not bread. I've been attending parties for long enough to know that the scene is filled with lies, deceptions and thus no respect, and it doesn't even seem intentional, it a carefree borderline careless atmosphere, just brush it off, just keep smiling. I do not agree with anyone here persay to a T, just realize that you all have a good point and talk about it for fuck sakes. Ben is not alone in this, friends help friends out, whomever allowed the brushing under the rug is as guilty as the employer who did not pay his employees. We are all responsible. The workers for letting their employers get away with it, the attendees for keeping their noses clear of the tension, and the by standers for well, being complacent, and most of all the employers for not addressing the issues that have been cried out over and over again. Everything I've stated goes for all events, not just the ones behind Space Gathering. The psychedelic scene in Montreal is fragile because of the unsaid wars between crews. And do not even try to tell me there is no tension and no hidden wars. Lie to yourself, I am perfectly about to do that on my own. I love you all, and love psy music, I just can't take anymore bullshit. Stop pretending like everything is peachy. Honour and Valour should be of up most importance, conduct yourselves in a manner to be proud of for years to come. The present means nothing without the inevitability of the future. donc moi jai pas de probleme avec perssonnes jaime tout le monde mais pas tout le monde maime cest pasrcequils sont endormis et surment sur la voie de la liberation interieur. beaucoup de gens me pitche des bad vibes du au problemes de space gathering cest drol ils sont meme pas capable de venir me voir comme des adulte et de parler des vrai chose cest trop drol de vous voir comme des enfants en manque damour je vais vous donner une exemple le son a space 2008 etais vraiment pas bon et voila ont me pitche des bad vibes vous me prener pour qui moi aussi je trouve que le son es pas bon comme toi comme lui comme elle pas parceque cest moi qui lorganise que tout les petit troube sont mais amis allo wake up quand une perssonne a besoin daide dans la vie ont doit laider pas le bitcher surtout que je suis dacors avec tout le hik de 2008 oui le son yatais poche donc aller voir le gars de son la pluie aller voir le bon dieux la seul chose que je peux me reprocher cest davoir couper le party en haut quand yavais des bands en bas et de toute facon se netais pas sur la programation mais je suis desoler a tout les ravers je suis pas juste un hiipies je suis une perssonne avec une tete sur les epaules et ya pas grand monde qui serais endure le stress dun festival comme je la fait mais le monde juge dans arriere ils sont pas dans laction ils comprenent pas mais je les aimes quand meme apart de ca ya pas eux de probleme a space tout etais super cool la vibe la famille trop fou le site les djs a bin la si ya un dj poche ont va venir me faire chier trop drol les enfants aller lui dire surtout que je suis surment dacors aussi pi pour pleko boy jai vendu un bus et il voulais me donnner largent jai dit tu doit aller passe linspection avant jai ete vraiment honete avec se gars et ja des temoin donc petite jessi tu sais rien meme un peux et tu viens ecrir des truk tu me fait rire es tu maleureuse es que ca va dans ta vie viens prende un the je vais tout expliquer mais tu va surment reponde que tu sais tout et ue tu veux pas mais peux etre que je me trompe entuka cette annee ca va etre une annee tres special ont lache pas cest la cerise sur le sunday hehe et les gens qui veulent pas venir bin ca va juste monte la vibe encore plus donc pas de chialeux juste du monde qui saimes et sentraide cest ca quond veux et cest deja ca donc un peux de menage ca fait du bien vous avez aucune iddee qui nous sommes ques quond es cest pas des tit rave cest un rasemblement de perssonne tres elever comme ont voie pas souvent et ca fait du bien vous etes telement en minorite tu peux meme pas imaginer tout les bonnes vibe qui sont la en se moment et tout le beau monde inpliquer lacher pas ont vous aimes ont vous souhaite un bon cheminement merci space ben |

Tout les gens qui participent à la conception de l'évènement sont conscient ou du moin prétendent être conscient de leur engagement.... C'est majoritairement que du partage, la paye bien c'est de voir le résultat du partage! Oui il a des lacunes qui demandent simplement à être amiliorées. Et c'est ce qu'ils cherchent cette année à faire... Si malheureusement les gens tentent de regarder et vivre que les mauvais côtés de la vie du passé, bien c'est moche pour [ eux...ca ] pour tout les autres bien sa continue vers l'avant en concervant que les bons côtés de la vie et en apprennant des mauvais!!! Cette année, l'organisation bas son plein.... Rien n'est parfait dans la vie....mais nous tentons tous de rendre le meilleur de chacun pour atteindre le plus près cet équilibre! J'ai moi même donner des heures épouventables et de l'$ à Space 2007, et savez-vous que ma plus grande joie était de voir tout le monde danser avec un grand sourire aux lèvres ou de relaxer sur le bord de la plage avec toujours et encore le sourire aux lèvres...pendant que moi je m'acharnais à trouver des solutions à nos problèmes. Et après j'ai tout oublier de mes heures de travail acharnées... juste parce que j'ai pu voir des gens sourirent... Si je serais restée boggé sur ces faits bien j'en serais encore là aujoud'hui... Et bien j'ai décidée de voir le bon côté des choses, malgré mes difficultés rencontrer tout au long de la fin de semaine...mes amis ont eux bien du plaisir et c'est ce qui compte! Donc comme je dit, tout le monde est ouvert au suggestion pour faire place à l'amilioration... Laisser faire vos jugements gratuits & négatifs, et laisser place au suggestion positive... |

Phil qui pince la musique and Gab qui tient sa tete, all of us with uncontrolable smiles, was one of the best mornings ever. Not to hot with the sun out, Tom qui torche avec c est 10 CD en jouent 2 heurs plus tard que prévue, Du fucking full on a 8 du matine genre, malade!
p.s. constructive criticism is not meant to be positive or negative...it is a statement formulated in attempts to further the knowledge base, to point out weaknesses in attempts to correct/make better, it is the foundation of intellect, what Universities are based upon, critical thought process, cognitive process of bright individuals are offered only for the benefit of all. It is up to you to take what you want and leave the rest, it's not about good or bad. Discussion are meant to help along the evolution of our critical thought machine, the mind. It is you, and only you, that can make a statement positive or negative for we all see things differently. Perhaps it lies in the way you say it. Rudeness ect... Certainly etiquette counts.
