I guess you'll have to be patient on that one! A slow weight loss is healthier and easier to maintain. Any cardio exercice will make you burn lots of calories. You could also go for a combo cardio-musculation to burn calories AND tone your body at the same time. With a healthy diet, you're on your way to success. Keep going! :)

this is what i do when i get to the gym, i stretch then i train which is either upper body or lower body and then i do 15-40 min of cardio depending on how long it took me to train and how much time i have before i have to catch the bus....

I think that 4 times a week of this and a healthy diet which depends on how much i can spend on food that week which is i would say pretty healthy....

I don't eat very much red meat either boiled chicken or fish with brown rice and vegies for supper and for lunch a frozen dinner and vegies and breakfast is cereal and a banana.. And i snack during the day on fruits or vegies...

I hope i see results sooner rather than later, i was told if i continue i should see results in about 2 months

Weight training will make you heavier since it builds music mass. You want to do cardio and eat healthier/less. Best way to lose a lot of weight fast, skipping. 30 mins of skipping a day will do it.

Hello !
So its easy, you go buy yourself a good pair of running shoes and then you go run outside.

Of course, in the beginning you'll be able to run like 2-3 min, but if you keep going 2-3 times a week, within 6 weeks you will be able to run for 15 to 30 min.

And I can tell you that it works, after having my kid, I gained more then 80lbs and I lossed it in 8 months...for sure it take time and of course you have to watch for food excess...not to good...especially munchies... but its worth the effort!!!!!

Anyway..wish you good luck...and if that can help you I went back running yesterday and it wasn't that hard ;)
I'm feeling hype right now..

it hard to run for me i have astma and it is sometimes hard to do cardio but i push myself to do [ some.....Ca ] or no caughing i do it but i have to be careful and running is one of those cardio activities that make me caugh alot...

I usually use the stair machine or the climbing machine those aren't too bad for my astma, i can't push too hard or i will have a caughing fit....But moderately i do good i break a sweat....

yeah..pilates is great.. in fact all kind of sports gonna make you lose weight...

for sure there's tricks and stuff which works better than other...

the best 10 advices...

1- you must be active if you want to lose weight but first off you need to feed yourself in an intelligent way! you can do crunch as you want and run 5 miles a day but if you go eat shit after you'll never see the 6 packs coming haha and consistency is the key.. better start w/ only 15-20 minutes of exercises 3 times a week than doing it to the max getting tired and stopping for 3 months..increase the amount slowly and don't beat yourself when you think you are weak at the task.. don't compare yourself!

2-
i already have a small waist
we don't have the same definition. first as i see you ... you need cardio girl. :) i would start to have a cardio discipline first and then when it's on your routine you can had weight training. weight training will not really make you lose fat. it can help you to tightens things up and make you firmer but first you wanna lose the fat.. and yeah you have reason training your muscle is gonna improve your calorie burning capacity.. experts even advised to do the weight training before a session of cardio. it would help burn a better amount.. ALWAYS STRETCH PROPERLY.

3- never will you find a better burning cardio than the running or jogging on road... elliptical training machines will never replace a real running... some professional that i know even told me that you would run 15 minutes and you would burn more than 1 hour on those machine.. never really give attention on their calcul of your calorie bruning. this is bullshit.. and not a really good guide line..
and + the gym can quite boring...if there's no television.. and if you can read a magazine while doing dsome biking or else well it's mean that the exercises is not enough challenging..

4- you mentioned your asthma... you can run for short period like a 2 or 3 minutes and then do a fast walk. some experts mention that fast/brisk walk is as much benefical than jogging.. and less damaging for knees... increase 30-45 minutes of fast walking a day and you'll see a difference after only 3 weeks!

5- i repeat: check on what you are eating. if you really want to do it i suggest you a master cleanse to start your diet.. but that's pretty hardcore.. anyway it's better to not do diet.. it's better starting a trying to maintain a healthy living.. also once a week allow yourself a glass of good alcohol and a threat like a piece or cake a good chocolate, a poutine... etc so it's gonna avoid you to binge and start the insane cycle of diet...

6- i don't know what is your actual living status quo... but i would avoid red meet/ privilege raw almonds and raw cashews. hard boiled eggs. fresh fish.. if you really need meat eat white.

7- you were expecting this one: eat as much organic veggies and fruits as you can each day. at least 6-7 portions. wash it before consumption..

8- drink from 8 to 10 glasses of water each day.

9- NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST!try to eat very small portions each 2 or 3 hours from the time you wake up til 3 hours before going to sleep.. that will activate your metabolist.. if you have little overweight actually now one of the factors is that your metabolism slowed down.. that happen to women when they approach or are in their 30's..it's normal... you need to speed things up!

10- avoid being fad and savor each natural un processed good food you eat! try to avoid using the scale more than 1 time each 2 weeks.. anyway you'll feel better in your clothes and inside as well! avoid doing sports or physical activity that you don't like! have fun! take care of yourself!

I think it's easier to push yourself in a team sport. And pushing yourself to the limit will definitely help you loose those extra pounds. Of course the first few games will be hard but it gets better every weeks!
Being part of a team also means you have to give your 100% all the time.. as you don't want to disappoint your team-mates.
You'll also work on strategies, you'll socialize, and have way more fun than training in a gym.
Well .. I feel better sweating while playing than sweating on a stair machine.. but that's how I am I guess
I'm feeling w00t! right now..

in fact more you are active more you can take more... sounds weird but exercises will really improve your life quality and i swear you'll feel less tired..

forgot also to mention that if you cannot travel all the time to the gym and quebec weather isn't clement for running outside. le centre pierre charbonneau offer an amazing interior track... for like 45$/3months! if you don't have motivational issues try specialized dvds.. but be assure to do that when you are alone because majority of time you look like a fool but still break a sweat..

also when you run concentrate on you breathing// very important take big deep inspirations...

and don't push yourself...

also i would change some of the thing on the typical menu you posted..
Update » Holly_Golightly wrote on Thu Jan 22, 2009 @ 8:36am
if you lose 1-2 lbs a week you're doing it right.. if you lose more than that you gonna take it back... and it is not healthy for your hearth to lose weight to fast...

but if you follow what i said by march you should be around 130 if you are 5'4,,

but assure that it;s better have a couple of pounds more and be active (doing cardio..) than sticky thin without doing the cardio..

ya i know when i was younger like 20 i lost almost 100 pounds and kept it off i was very over weight close to 275 pounds....

I am going to keep doing what i am doing and see what happens i feel good now and that's the most important thing right? the weight will come off if i keep training and exercising! And watch what i eat. I feel confident that i will loose weight with patience and hard work...

I am very short and obesity runs in the family on my mom's side and i have those genes....So i stay fit u know even if i don't loose alot of weight and i am healthy and active to not have any probelms with my health that usually are asscociated with obesity which is what i want to avoid!!!

Thanks Again Betty U ROCK :)

woah 275. i admire you to have worked all that fat out.

the thing is that you took it back and that's probably because you were dieting.. the trick is to change your entire life around exercises and un processed natural good food!
if you doesn't want to have like example oprah winfrey a hell of life.. and finish by hating food..

yeah if you feel better already you are on the right track girrrrl!

it is pure math, the weight is going to comes off only if you burn more than you consume...

don't forget that one pound is ~ 3500 calories... it seems scary that numbers but don't foget that you burn calories constantly.. just a night of sleep burn 400 calories..

also talking about sleep you are going to lose more weight if you sleep at least 7 or 8 hors a night..

eat more veggies and try diversity... eat protein but cut all bad sugars and bread...

don't forget to cheat once a week!

a real good measure to know where you at is the bmi (body mass index) (if you are not an athlete let say.. because muscle weight more than fat..)... doctors used that formula all the time.

take your weight and divided it by your height. you gonna have a number than with that number you can check on a scale.. 17 start to be very thin and not that healthy... 22-23 is what is the ideal. this is the healthy number/// after 25 there's a sign of light overweight/// after that when you reach the 30 we r talking about obese morbidity..

anyway..

keep up the good work! i encourage you... think about your body (flabby) and system (artery clogged) who's going to be stronger!

i think about my lungs cleaning up when i slow down on the smoking. it's help me a lot to think positive.
I'm feeling hitched right now..
