Goa tried to kill the rave scene

Luckily it died

And the scene survived
I'm feeling like the good guy right now..

They said Disco died and it never did even if acne faced black sabath fans burned there records!

Goa to psytrance
is like

reggae to dub
dub to dubstep
uk hardcore to jungle
jungle to drum and bass
hip hop to breaks
breaks to new school breaks!

Anyway goa is more melodie based, and in somecases pretty cheesy and horrible bass!
Psytrance is more dynamic sounding but still most of the time with the progrock kickdrum!
psytrance has made lotsa baby's full-on(145-155bpm,sometimes faster and darker)
Prog PSY(130-14O BPM)more suited for the morning!
AMBIENT CHILL PSY(downtempo,dubby,middle east vibes..)
Psybreaks(my personal fave!!!psytrance with breakbeats
Psybooty(not kidding i got a comp called psybooty !!!lol)
I'm feeling year of da ox right now..

Psytrance / Goa is one of the Worlds most healthiest scenes still around (without hitting the mainstream music industry). There are still HUGE amounts of festival's that attract thousands of people. Even in Montreal / Quebec, it's pretty much the only scene still alive (regarding festivals that is).

Sabi said it best really : Goa was more inclined towards melodies and elastic-type kickdrums, giving more "tock" and less "phump" in the kick departement. Usually goatrance did not have the rolling basslines like todays modern psytrance does.

I find it hard to believe that psytrance had a negative impact on the rave scene. if anything, it's what kept things going when times were tough and the proof is the strength of the psytrance scene today.

I mean, if the jew's are focusing on psytrance more than any other musical style, there must be a future.. ;) LOL
I'm feeling white flaging right now..

Goa is weaker sounding, quite simply. When the hippies got their hands on better gear than 808s, 303s, and the occasional Juno, they started making Psy. Goa tracks usually are so dense in effects that it's hard to find the beat, whereas psy went way more minimal. I felt personally that the big change came with Koxbox's "Major Problem in Australia" track, I think it's Crunchy Moles but I can't remember. I had this Distance sampler where half the tracks had the old Astral Projection flow and the other half were going with the Cydonia sound. Those were the good old days. These days, same old same old.

And btw Bliss the rave scene is dead. Check circa 2000 everywhere in the world. Everybody dropped out of the scene with all the y2k fear.

Nice rhymes Tardcore. Everybody loves internet poetry.
I'm feeling totally pitted right now..

same with me, the kick is a "pure" sine wave with pitch modulation (to give the "kick"), no distortion, no nothing, it just sounds empty and dull for me, and the bassline is like boiling water, blubly, constant, too fast (every 1/4 of the beats), again, no distortion, no caracter, but the rest of the sounds in psy are pretty much ok, they even get to research deeper melodies than most other genres, but its not catchy as much.

that was my constructive critisism about psy/goa.

thats why im not really into this, but i do respect the genre, its one of the pioneer genre in the rave movement.
I'm feeling hardcore right now..

All I know is that I went to a 4 Day Rave last summer called SPACE GATHERING I got some kind of insane pain in my head and it changed my life for the better, I was fucking WIRED like a POWER TOWER.

Anyawy I want to go to more cool raves with ALIENS and crazy GEOMETRIC SYMBOLS and MAYAN COBWEBS and SHIVA BLANKETS hanging from walls.

WICKED MITIOTE.

Where can I find the organizers of such masterful events!

Let's get one thing straight, hippies don't make psytrance, they only dance to it and are part of the scene, for some reason,i don't quite understand it,oh well.

the best goa/psy stuff I ever heard was made in trackers like fastracker II, it was minimal as fuck because there were NO effects (you could fake a delay or flanger by doubling and tripling tracks, that's about it). I'd agree with noah on this one.

Once people started spending all their cash on juicy $ 3000 synths the music got a lot more boring.
I suppose they had to make their money back.
I'm feeling over 9000 right now..
