Zombie: Dead person walking, afflicted with an insatiable hunger for the flesh of the living.

And nothing else. :) Infected, mutated, possessed people are not zombies. They might follow the same "us vs them" routine (and I love those stories as much) but they're not zombies per se.
I'm feeling happy right now..

bon bon bon nomme moe un film de zombie que cest pas a cause dune mutation pis que le gov essaye de cover up toute sa! si cest pas sa cest pas un vrai film de zombi ROMERO POWAH!

btw heres the wikipedia def: A zombie is a reanimated human corpse. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the people being controlled as workers by a powerful sorcerer. Zombies became a popular device in modern horror fiction, largely because of the success of George A. Romero's 1968 film Night of the Living Dead.

There are several possible etymologies of the word zombie. One possible origin is jumbie, the West Indian term for "ghost".[1] Another is nzambi, the Kongo word meaning "spirit of a dead person."[1] According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word entered English circa 1871; it's derived from the Louisiana Creole or Haitian Creole zonbi, which in turn is of Bantu origin.[2] A zonbi is a person who is believed to have died and been brought back to life without speech or free will.[3] It is akin to the Kimbundu nzúmbe ghost.

I know what zombies are and Romero zombies are not voodoo zombies, so the wikipedia entry is useless. It also proves my point :)

Also, Romero's unholy trilogy is NOT about mutations and government cover ups. Please watch those movies again. :)

Night of the Living Dead: Nobody knows why the zombies are there but some think it has to do with meteorites from Venus. Possibly a viral infection but it does not mutate. It's most likely a parasite. No army there except for a few scenes with them and rednecks shooting zombies.

Dawn of the Dead: Four refugees (1 journalist, 1 helicopter pilot, 2 cops), one mall filled with zombies, a few hells' angels (or whatever is similar). No government cover up, no mutation.

Day of the Dead: No government cover up. The dead have won and the army tries to find a solution (though at this rate, everyone is paranoid/schizoid from the situation and it all goes to hell).

This trilogy is the basis of all viral zombie movies and they're branded as the originals and none mention cover-ups and mutations, so there. :D

A parasite piggy-backing on a corpse and using its pre-existing motor functions is not a mutation.

If it grew super powers or a second head, then yeah. If it became invincible, then yes. But it's still 100% human, with a parasite inside the decayed brain. So no mutation.

Those are not zombies :-P

It's like saying that the Ganados in RE4 are zombies, or those creatures in RE5

OH yeah we should start our fraking gaming company and do this :D:D:D:D

but I vote for some fps, like shooting zombies with a sniper!

And it's not like those are bad! I loved Re4, am waiting for Re5 like crazy. I have most of the zombie/infected movies available in one form or another, including many books.

I've been a zombie nut since I first saw NotLD as a teen and it's gone progressively more obsessive through the years. I'm not pissing on the "infected"... but they're not zombies :D Cloudeur is right.

If you start a game company, let me in. I have an idea for a Team Fortress / multi shooter campaign type of game, but based on the Puppet Masters / Day of the Triffids storylines :D

I had a similar zombie game idea but it was more like Mirror's Edge with quests, set in a city of zombies.

However, unlike other zombie movies (except Land of the Living Dead, which lightly raises the point), the game would let you use the zombies' five senses against them.

Things like blasting them with sound to deafen them, lights to blind them (sot hat they can't spot you anymore... since they don't regenerate). You'd have to parkour around areas (since streets are not accessible). Like a parkour courrier in a zombie city.

That's a pretty fucking cool idea.. I'd imagine it more like using parkour to get to supplies/weapons that are in buildings or something than being a courier.. Could make for some awesome multi-player games, too; either a co-op thing where you can help each other, or have teams or a FFA for who gets to it first.. Sort of like capture the flag, but free-for-all..

man I've been wanting to make a zombie game forever. I just have zero programing knowledge :P

I can come up with awesome ideas though!

hmm, now that I'm gonna have a new computer, maybe I should see about downloading one of those 3D game engiens that has most of the complicated stuff already done, you just need to work on the scripting and models/levels/textures..
