#1: Crudessence, not exactly a restaurant as you can't really sit, but it's 100% raw vegan, Rachel corner St-Urbain
#2: Aux Vivres, vegan, St-Laurent between Mt-Royal & Villeneuve
#3: Spirit lounge, vegan, Ontario E.
#4: Chu Chai, vegetarian, kinda greesy tho(too much for my health freak self)

Bliss, no offense, but this is total marketing BS, I have been reading about it for over a decade and as long as you replace the protein approprietly and make sure you get enough of it(and vitamins/minerals), you can be a LOT healthier. I was vegetarian for 10 years and vegan for 3(and only eating raw food for 1.5 years) and I was never ill, always in a good mood and didnt need much sleep. Nobody needs meat, it's in your head. I mean, unless you really enjoy it... You can easily replace it with vegan options... :)
I'm feeling sydney=amazing right now..

First, excuse my approximate english in the following text...

I'm vegetarian since 2002, the year that I had the flesh eating bacteria.
After having had this disease, I went to consult one of the best chinese doctor of Montreal because I didn't accept that I was suppose to endure arthritis crisis for the rest of my life (traditional doctor's diagnostic!)
One of the first thing he said to me to do was to STOP my consumption of meat (especially the red one), and avoid as much as possible diary products & eggs. I took chinese decoction (flowers, plants, roots & herbs) and became vegetarian. I did a lot of exercise too and change the way I was handle stress in my life.
It took about 4 years but I don't have ANY arthritis symptoms anymore. And its NOT a miracle.
Just the TAO way of nutrition. I'm taking light dose of iron and calcium on the side, and my blood analysis still PERFECT.
And I still partying all of that years, sometimes really badly. The only thing that really fucked my health is chemical drugs and smoking cigarettes.
But I still pretty in shape behind that facts.
For me, to be vegan or vegetarian is not a religion, but a logic and an intelligent way to eat.
And if you want to eat meat, buy the biologic one. [ www.equiterre.org ]
And about the iron in meat, certain studies on the colorectal cancer seem to show the of nitrosated compounds in the gastro-intestinal system of the consumers of red meats. The IRON contained in these meats could be in question there.

Bliss, you can push your researches and you can read a lot of interessant things
(ex.: [ www.masantenaturelle.com ] about the meat you're eating, but make circumspect choices for the origins of the articles you're reading and don't forget that the richest corporations are the ones who make become or keep the humans non-healthy.
By the way, there is other ecologic and ethic considerations what could convince you to decrease your red meat consumption:

vegetarian for over 6 years, & still alive!

don't really go to veggie restaurants though, but i eat certain meals at veggie friendly places, like the veggie burger at frites alors is great, or some things at santropol ... most good Thai restaurants have a good selection of stuff too... .. .

by the way... the veggie burger is probably ok, but you'll want to avoid the fries at Frites Alors... they may not be cooked in lard, but I've been told they're marinaded in it before they're put in the oil.
I'm feeling new records right now..

I didn't want to name names... in case things had changed - or I'd misunderstood while I was drunk.

oops...thnx for the heads up on frite alors fries guys...

on the other hand, fries/poutine have always been my vice, and 'm pretty sure most places use some odd meat derived oils/sauces (except LaFleurs i think), but hey, life is hard :P

Not a vegetarian but I think I am going to shift to not buying anything made in factory farms because it's wrong in every way. Factory farms are the only reason meat is cheap enough to eat daily; meat should be a luxury and come from a humanely raised animal, if you are going to eat it.
I'm feeling over 9000 right now..

Wow, that's rock solid sources you got there.

I also hear from a guy that used to date some other girl down the street who said that her best friend's mother knew another woman who said that offering your opinion on a lot of people's way of life when they are asking for places to indulge is a mile besides the point and offers nothing constructive.

I mean, that woman has got to know what she's talking about, right ?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Cagibi is also a vegan restaurant. It's on St-Laurent, corner St-Viateur.
I'm feeling like marcus phenix right now..
