Maybe, but it still doesn't excuse their poor clothing taste. More than half of them don't even know what that scarf is or what it's called (but they sure as hell know you can find 'em at American Apparel).

There's nothing worse than a hipster who poses about stuff they have no clue about... and flaunt it like they invented it.

reminds me of the SKA PUNK wave back when i was young and everybody half dressed as a rude boy had no idea (most of em) that skapunk was really ska and ska was coming from the dancehall reggae side of things!

same thing then happened with the EMO wave! emo being mostly towards the 80s ! appathy , melancoly and pretty much based on the indie rock of bands such as : weezer, get up kids, jawbreaker etc...
but if you ask any kids from that time they will say you its songs screaming and singing about bitch stuff hehe !

anyways hipsters are the new SKApunk and the new emo in my opinion! actually it should be called NU RAVE since its pretty much stole the whole FLUO and have fun mentality ! hipsters will follow whatever is the next thing so they can tell their friends : SEE I did it F1RST!

Anachronism... Weezer was in the 90s, and the Get Up Kids were 99 or 2000 or something.

You should be referring to Emo as it related to the hardcore sXe scene. Quicksand, Snapcase, and the fashion was really based off of the look of Ian McKaye of Minor Threat. You know, the guys who whined about "STRAIGHTEDGE, I AM FOREVER PURE" and led to legions of people smashing other people's beers at parties then getting into big fights.

These days I have no idea where the kids get their ideas other than to suppose that their older brothers were already posers so they were aping posing. Meta.
I'm feeling totally pitted right now..

i dunno man sXe were there way before emo! Emo seems to be an hybrid of the Hardcore and Indie Rock Scene ! and no its not an anachronism since even tho weezer were playing before Get up kids definatly surf that wave when it came back the same way Justice surfed on Daftpunk revival !

Aprizm, although related to reggae, ska has nothing to do with dancehall.

You obviously knew nothing about ska when you were younger (although at the time you probably thought you were way COOLER then everyone else, in a hipster kinda way ;)

-------------

Ska (pronounced /ˈskɑː/, Jamaican [skja]) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s, and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae.[1] Ska combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. It is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the offbeat.

In the early 1960s, ska was the dominant music genre of Jamaica and was popular with British mods. Later it became popular with many skinheads.[2][3][4][5] Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican scene of the 1960s, the English 2 Tone ska revival of the late 1970s and the third wave ska movement, which started in the 1980s.

------------

Rude boy: During the late-1970s 2 Tone ska revival in England, the terms RUDE BOY, rude girl and other variations were often used to describe fans of that genre, and this new definition continued to be used in the third wave ska subculture.

-------------

2 Tone (or Two Tone) is a music genre created in England in the late 1970s by fusing elements of ska, punk rock, rocksteady, reggae and pop.

The 2 Tone sound was developed by English musicians (mostly based in the West Midlands area) who grew up hearing 1960s Jamaican music and decided to play a similar style of music.[1] They combined that style with influences from contemporary punk and pop music

Same with those fluo crips/chavs. You know, bright yellow patterned hoodies, pilot glasses and face bandana. They usually say they've heard whatever grime/electro band before anyone else.

I also put them in the same basket as the hipsters. After all, take a look at Omnikrom's fanbase and you find both of them there.

Me, I'll take greasers any day. Sure, they'll be asses like every other subculture but they'll do it to good music. And know how to dance the lindy hop or at least a bastard version of it.
I'm feeling happy right now..
