Good idea. Its funny that so many peoples get on there high horses about drugs at raves. The drugs are a social lubricant in the same as alcohol in bars. Peoples go to bars for all sorts of reasons: to dance , to see a show, to play video poker, but take away the alcohol and your venue closes the same week. Same for raves, take away the lubricant and your scene will turn into a rusty bicycle chain. There are plenty of situations and contexts to be sober in life, yet very few where you can get high, lets not pretend that raves aren't one of them. |

The government clearly had its role but the picture seems far greater than initially thought. |

 Coolness: 162645 | I rave sober. Got nothing wrong with people who choose to do drugs in rave. But if you're just high to the point of being annoying, I'll find a way to get away.
My biggest peeve would be that most people go to their first raves, and drop pills. Yeah, I know, nothing wrong here. We've probably all done it. Heck, everyone should do it - I really believe it's part of the eye-opening experience. And a nice way to tell the new kids; "Welcome to our world". The problem comes into play when people start associating enjoying the party with popping pills, and the belief that the more you pop, the better the party will be. I don't even know how many times people told me they couldn't rave without drug, that they'd fall asleep, couldn't enjoy it as much, etc. I party sober by choice. Sure, my first sober experiences were fucked up. I'd spend half the party sitting in a corner completely burned out, falling asleep then waking up to the sound of the bass 2 minutes later. But guess what ... you quickly get over it. Now, I can go to a party and enjoy myself all night long, with or without drugs. And for those who'd go ahead and say stupid shit like - yeah, well I'd rather do drugs and not feel like shit during a party I paid for .... Sure, go ahead. Spend even more money to buy your fix. Then come to me the day after the party telling me how shitty and fucked up you feel on that e-down. I guess what I'm saying is ... if you want to do drugs. Go ahead. But at least try partying sober once in a while. You're not making a choice until you've seen your options. |

As if the human body isn't capable of dancing and hanging out for several hours. It's ironic how I'm the one still dancing at 8am till the last song, and always sober. Let's face it - Ecstasy brings you in a different state that most people are not even aware of - and unable to reach/experience without the use of chemical aids. Saying that "they" have no clue what they're taking and what it does to their body seems to be a judgement call on your part. Obviously you've had really bad experience with drug users (abusers?) in the past which I can not relate to. But I have a very "shamanic" view on drug usage ... I believe that in the right context, they can be used to cure and enlighten, allowing people to break free of their own limitations and gain a different perspective on things. Just like they can easily become a very destructive force when approached by an imbalanced person looking for new ways to escape their own reality. |

What I meant was that the vast majority of "E" users, especially the newer ones, have little or no clue what is in the pills they are taking. I have seen enough of this for enough years now to feel like I can form a fair perspective on it. I have also seen it harm lots of kids who didn't know that they were taking certain drugs that they would never take on their own if they weren't put under the blanket name of "Ecstasy" and dressed up in purple dolphin shapes. I guess it's a personal feeling, but I don't feel that kids taking a mix unknown substances is a very good way of welcoming them to our world.
