WOW!!!!
Thats nuts...when I was a kid I was a huge fan of doctor who, I think I pretty much watched all of the episodes that used to air on vermont public television and cbc, from the first doctor to the last... I was always fascinated with the doctor who theme, it captured my imagination because it was like a haunting electronic calidoscope of sound, a pulsing rhythmic orchestra, ultimate kool... up and until today, I didnt even know her name, but thats some seriously dope shit, she was obviously from the future ;p one of my all time favorite mixes ever, Coldcuts 70mins of madness mix from the wheels of steel show, has a mix`d in version of the doctor who theme song, I think the second or third to last tune.... Ufot=timeless presence through 9 doctors

Delia Derbyshire didn't actually compose the Dr. Who theme, but she did do all the synth work on it. Rephlex put out a 4x10" set of BBC Radiophonic Workshop material a few years back, it includes a full record of Derbyshire's experiments... she also worked with a group called The White Noise (with David Vorhaus). Their first album, An Electric Storm, is phenomenally weird and good.
I'm feeling new records right now.. |
