Belinda, you are a sweet girl, one of the nicest & most polite teenagers I've met in a long time (next to Matthew) and I wish you the happiest of Birthdays. But the way I was treated tonight was by far the most insulting and down right rude I've ever experienced. I arrived at 8:20pm to help with the set up of the "sound" and to bring my turntables because I was asked at the last minute to do so. I was told I would receive a phone call from Mark (Ill Eagle) to let me know he would meet me at the venue to help me up the three flights with my two turntables. I received no such call and when I arrived, there was nobody to greet me with help. Once upstairs I walked into a GIGANTICALLY EMPTY AND PITCH BLACK ROOM! I was told the second room was upstairs and that they we're setting up the "sound". The sound was 2 computer speakers and a sub no larger than the one my Girlfriend owns for her laptop. I was astonished to find out from one of the Dj's there that this was indeed the sound system for the D'N'B/Breaks/House Dj's. Nice! PFF! Now there we're a few nice ppl and some really stupid ppl all running around doing nothing. I was already on the brink of lashing out on these two kids laughing in my face saying I'm blowing up at them for nothing. WHERE WAS THE PROMOTER FOR THIS NIGHT? Nowhere to be found. After laughing a little with Matthew and his cute little friends, I managed to calm down and reflect on the situation. Then this burnout cracker FAGGOT Greg gets in my face and starts a fight, now I'm not one to beat up pathetic little hippies, but if I see you in the street Greg, walk the other way. You FUCKED with me after I had the good grace to bring these people my equipment and you could see I was frustrated and you just wanted to make shit worse for me! You could tell that it wasn't your fuckin place to say shit, you standing there smoking a cigarette while we PANICKED to get the rooms set up! FUCK YOU! I HOPE YOU GET HIT BY A FUCKIN BUS! YOU AND ONLY YOU MOTHERFUCKER! You laughed in my face and told me to "Get out of here" and taunted me outside for a fight and didn't live up to your BIG words. All while sitting there with a smile on you face, like I'm a joke. That's no way to treat your 2nd room Headliner DJ who's playing for FREE for this girls Birthday MORON! So if anything, we're gonna see each other again, so walk the other way, if you mutter anything about me to anyone, watch out. That's all I'm saying to you. NOW! The confusion over the two rooms. When I got there I was told that upstairs was Happy Hardcore and the BIG room would be D'n'B etc. Someone was obviously taking happy dust, because that wasn't the case. BUT somewhere along the line Belinda made the decision to switch them for some reason, Mark (Invisible Eagle) was still nowhere to be found, we could not confirm what was going on. Two of the Dj's there decided to start blasting Happy upstairs in the 2nd room! Like it's their FUCKING ROOM! SO I decided to start setting up shop in the Main Room! Those two douches told me to set up there. So half way through setting up I was approached by the other HHC Dj's telling me that I'm wrong It's upstairs. I FUCKIN KNEW THAT ALREADY! Just letting you know. I didn't frankly give a shit. The Happy Hardcore was already playing, Recoil was supposed to be up there not any HHC Dj. That's complete disrespect to an entire community of ppl that tried to come together with you burnouts and you couldn't even meet us HALF WAY! Fucked up. So after arguing a little with Matricks (who's a really nice guy, I know this) we realized that we we're yelling at each other (two hired Dj's) all while Mark stood there with a blank fucking look on his face. THE WHOLE TIME! Either that or it would be him talking to the venue owner who was FUCKING YOU IN THE ASS making you pay 2000$ for that venue. You're an idiot for taking it and you ruined the night by not paying attention to the MAIN DETAILS of throwing jams. ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP VENUE! ALWAYS HAVE THE SOUND EQUIPMENT RENTED WITH A SOUND TECH PRESENT IN BOTH ROOMS! and most of all DON'T HAVE YOUR DJ'S BRING THEIR TURNTABLES AT THE LAST MINUTE AND NOT BE THERE TO GREET THEM AND HELP THEM UP THE FUCKING STAIRS! Not cool! Now money, I said I was going to play for free, for Belinda & Mark. Now you had an attending list of 200 people. And of course there's walk-ins right? So I figure you'll at least break even without the 150$ I asked for. You brought me 90$, you still owe me 60$, pay me at taste the rainbow and make sure you know what you're doing. I'm not Moog Audio, I'm not a rental service, a work horse for your team. I'm a DJ. Yes a lowly musician who sits in his room making tracks so he can make a living. I think it's horse shit that you had that puppy dog look on your face as you handed me that scrawny pile of Money. I have the drop on everything man, I know a lot more than you think I do. So you owe that cash one way or another. I will be pleased to help you with any endeavors you have in the future, as I said I'm still in for taste The Rainbow, I would love to see all of you again and hopefully get this done right so we can ALL enjoy ourselves. Not just the fucking candy kids and E-tards ya know? It takes all kinds to make things happen, and I didn't feel an OUNCE of respect from a lot of you. I'm not just some Nazi that was yelling about getting shit done, you guys we're 2 hours off schedule and I was ready to help everyone. Alas we couldnt even find a light to illuminate the place. Great deal you got. 2000$ for one night and not even any lighting in the fucking place. Imagine paying that muchfor a hotel? Pfahahaha. With no lights? Nome sane? SO I left with my shit. End of story. Anyways, my rant is done. I love you all except for Greg, you faggot ass newfie piece of shit, little MAGGOT shrimp ass, crawfish-looking ass BITCH! Hope to see you all at Taste The Rainbow. Belinda,Matt, Matricks, Pete & Don Louis! Big up. Mad love for you guys, you have big hearts. So One love. Mark, you gotta pick your socks up dude. That was heavy responsibility and you we're being a metaphorical "Dead Beat" on this one. Alex, I regret we had to meet in such circumstances, but i'm glad we sorted it out in calm after all. You went through a lot last night, and I don't know how I would have reacted in your position. |

Its just too bad there was 0 deco, very minimal sound system, and TOTAL lack of dj equipment, making it impossible for some of the dj's of both rooms to play simultaneously... I would love to go back there for an event with PROPER organisation. |

 Coolness: 166520 | word to the promoters - parties every 2 weeks are way too much to handle for people who try to organize them. it makes stuff like badly organized parties, because planning requires time. of course everyone can have a great time no matter what happens because we're all together, and that is all the fun. but the stress can be reduced soooo much by planning parties one, two or even three MONTHS in advance. and by planning i mean concentrating on one event, only one. also that leaves calendar space open for other promoters who might also want to plan quality events.
go to other people's parties. if you want to still organize, get involved with other parties, other promoters, help the scene grow... just like all the other promoters help you in your events. remember... quality is found into planning and it takes TIME. time is the art. making a party is an art too. take your time, don't burn out your crew AND the ravers by making events every two weeks. if your events are good, people WILL come back, even if you make less of them. if your events are badly organized the bad words will start coming out and less and less people will come. so... yeah... think about it. i'm organizing and helping out with outdoor events since two years now and i can tell you that the planning for quality events like space gathering started happening in last december. that is more than six months in advance, and there are two or three people working full-time on this since then... and still at the moment of setting up we're rushed by unplanned surprises that we've got to deal with, and the promoters have a hard time making it. so yeah i hope you get serious if you want your vision to come true for taste the rainbow. |

 Coolness: 43405 | I have to say, the promoters dropped the ball in a BIG way this time. Alot went wrong (which happens when you throw a party!), and people shuffled the blame and shirked at stepping up and making decisions, which really upsets me. When you ask someone point-blank straight to their face and ask "Who is in charge? Who has final word?" and they look to each other shrug and mumble you know there's a problem. I hate the way the DnB DJs were treated- I only *showed up in the first place* for that 2nd room lineup. You not only disrespected the people spinning, but their fans too.
I'm not gonna rant or throw insults, if the promoters want honest feedback, PM me. All that being said- you can learn from every mistake. I'm curious to see what you'll do next :) |
