How about the term mashup? and the fact that there are many artists out there that are popular because they dont go by the norm 2 many dj's, prodigy i could name more but trhose are just 2 examples of well known for not sticking to one style whats happening in mtl is the same thats happening all over canada. i know from experience because i have lived from one coast to another in the last 3 years The simple problem is bad organizational skills When you organize your apartment or cd collection or files in your computer , alot of people want it a certain way Well the same can be said for timeslots and genres put together for a party To make assumptions of people that they go for drugs is not only immature but ridiculous. Perhaps forgetting things come with age but i remember the best partys are the ones with 2 rooms and 2 geres in each room maybe 3. like trance, psy and house in one and breaks ,jungle and booty in the other I hate all of one genre parties and sure i will go but i will also be arrive right before the headliner then so i dont have to be there for 8 hours of consistancy I like a wide variety of indivduals in a room from all walks of life and its sad to say that some poeple base there life style on there fave music when music should be an accesory for exaple toronto jungle parties are full of thugs and scarborough trouble makers that just cause negativity to the party , these people who bash any other genre but jungle so i wont find them at any other kind of party but all jungle so a mixed party means i wont have to deal with them in the vibe or got o a breaks party in victoria bc where its full of young college kids sort of vibe or vancouvers house scene is full of snobs. If theres hhc then minimal its because of poor organizational skills period and poor organizational skills can stem from many reasons, lack of experience, knowledge, lack of asking for helpo or taking advice etc |

elitism in a style is just about the worst thing that can happen to the whole of a scene... when the people you look up to as artists or simply as the people who brought you into the scene think its cool to diss all other genres it creates a loop of segregation amongst genre or scenes... closed mindedness and prejudice... these mixed parties seem to be a nice refreshing cure to all this bollocks... and also a stage where djs can experiment a bit more without being judged by their peers. These smaller jams/loft parties have proven to provide some of the most fun i've had behind or in front of the decks... I've even had some pretty enlightening moments from looking at certain djs mix... i think the real problem... the epidemic these days is disorganised parties thrown by unexperienced promoters... it so happens that these happen to be mixed parties with a lot of djs, some of which might not be ready for an audience... parties are a whole lot more fun for everyone when thought and effort is put into them... a lot of different styles and a lot of djs is a bigger challenge for organisers and few are the ones who live up to it... but its not all bad either though... ive seen events that were really well put together in the past months and ive also seen, more simple but fun as hell events. |
