| If I'm not mistaken the swastika used as a religious symbol was one which had it's branches flow counter-clockwise as opposed to the Nazi regime's clockwise swastika.
The religious symbol is usually referred to as a "Manji".
And after reading up a bit more on the subject apparently both clockwise and anti-clockwise were/are used by the Japanese Buddhists. |

| You are mistaken, it went both ways, and like the left-hand path and right-hand path of tantra symbolized invocation or evocation depending on direction. The Manji is only one name for it in one culture (Shinto I believe). The Swastika is what anthropologists call a cultural universal, although technically it's only nearly universal. |

| Oui c'était bel et bien son nom et c'est aussi l'appellation Japonnaise du Swastika. Look it up, it was even the name of lvl 3 in the first Zelda which was shaped like a swastika.
