i never saw any, but im sure cyberloft did, because its too obvious that kids go there to smash their faces, not really to party ...

as i said in the other thread, its time for a promoter meeting, like there was back in the days, and there is in other country's rave scene. we have to go in the same direction, not everyone doing their little own business.

Well i think if the current people stay renting the cyberloft there could probably be no other events there, but if new people rent out the place (new lease, new tenants), that is a new lease and there could be events there again.

It's not about encouraging it's about discouraging.. Turning a blind eye doesn't help..

It's no secret that some promoters in the past may have been involved in the sales of drugs at their parties, or the venue may have been involved in some cases, or there may have been some kind of a relationship between the people throwing parties and the people selling substances at them.

I figured that shit out when I started going to parties back in 2000, and it's one of the reasons I am so critical of the scene at times. I detest the crime aspect, I only care about the music.

It was "The Syndicate" that were selling the drugs at events back in the day. They would goto every party and tell the promoter that they would be selling at the party and if they had a problem with it they would make sure the event would not happen. So of course as a promoter you had to agree... They also said if you had any problems with anyone they would handle the situation. They would also give you a couple of pills for free for your friends if you chose. They also would beat the shit out of anyone who was caught selling stuff which wasn't theirs. I know a couple of people who that happened to. That all stopped around 2002.

One of the nice things about having "The Syndicate" around was that you knew all the chemicals you bought were of good quality. It seems these days, it's an open market which means you have a lot of "Clandestine" labs going around. This means you never really know what you are getting when you buy a pill. Before it was very controlled, and they wanted the best for people (it was their business). Now you can buy an E and it could be something else. You buy a vile of K and it's Ritalin crushed up. This never happened before.

For every positive there is a negative and for every negative there is a positive. The demand for mind altering substances will never go away. It's part of our human nature to want to think differently then one normally does. I have nothing against that but people should remember that everything should be done in moderation. Addictions are not good, but occasionally in any situation (be it at home, party, out in a park, at a show, while camping), sometimes that alteration can be a good thing.

i posted this before the first FTS...

"aaaaaaaa-right, thanks to steve for the shoutout!

on another note...

In light of recent events, it seems to me that it is my duty as a promoter to ask you all to be responsible if/when using drugs. Now I know that most of you are responsible enough not to having to hear any of this shit but to those of you who are not concerned by this message, please try and keep an eye out for people (especially new drug users) who might be concerned by this message and have decided to ignore it. Now i know that chances are that this message is completely useless and that nothing will go wrong but I am still going to post this, just in case.

FYI: I personaly do not condone nor condemn drug use. I am not trying to be a fatherly figure or police anyone. All I want is for people to have fun while being respectful of eachother without anyone passing out on the sidewalk.

Now that I've said what i needed to... FUCKING PARTAY!"

i dont think that im turning a blind eye to drug consumption... at this point when you have 200 people going around a place... 3 promoter arnt gonna be able to control drug dealers and stop em from entering... I dont want to start to have to search people at the door (nor do i beleive that im even legaly allowed to do that)

honnestly, i dont know what the solution is but on the other hand... correct me if im wrong but do you people really think that the scene here has a drug problem?

the tenants of the cyber loft are still there... they have removed all future events that were to be organised there except two that dont seem to have anything to do with the rave scene

other places will come

if you have an event with hundreds of people, you should have some kind of security, for a multitude of reasons.

Can you name me one event under 200 people where there was ever a problem? In the 10+ years I have been going to events, not once have I ever seen problems. The promoters are good enough security for a small house event. This is Quebec, we shoot people in schools not in parties. Hehe bad joke...

I'm feeling lucky right now..

The police are right to go after dealers who are selling to kids..

just be glad they are going after specific people and not doing random searches and arrests which could have happened last night
