On that Note, Steve Lalla was nice enough to give us a write up in the Hour this week: Genres of music, clothing and merchandise are usually the unifying factors at parties and events. Attendees dish out to hear some famous producer play a few records, they scratch their chins and pick their ears trying to figure out if its nozzy or not, perhaps occasionally sneering at the beer-soaked slob at the end of the bar, and maybe they even sign up for the XYZ Productions mailing list, unwittingly allowing their private info to be sold to third-party death manufacturers. But is that what it's really all about? No, according to Vagitron's Corey K, Mayday and Bind - it's all about having fun, and that's why this week's Vagitron event is weird, scary and ultimately so appealing that it deserves an entire column. Vagitron is not your clothes, it's not your CDs, it's not your records - it's not even your MP3s. It's not on the ceiling, it's not by the door when you come in, nor is it concealed in your drinks. Vagitron cannot be described because it is indefinable, like Morph the Cat. "You have to be down with the idea of going out and having a good time," Corey K told me over a glass of apple juice. "I think everyone at heart is. But some people don't realize it. Bind had a couple of women outside a club that were, er, upset about the word, for example. But they just didn't understand. It's not derogatory towards women in any way at all. "'Vagina' might be a taboo word the way that 'penis' is. But you're always going to have people that are just confused.... On the opposite side of the spectrum, you have people that respond really well. I had a couple that got the flyer and said 'Oh my God! Somebody told me about this but I didn't believe them, and now I'm holding the flyer!' And it's happened to us a couple of times that people on the street just spontaneously start chanting 'Vagitron! Vagitron!' That's what the party is all about!" Whoa, you say? Exactly what in Christ's holy name is going on here, you might ask? "It goes back to December 2005," recounts Corey K. "I threw a party [Revision, the best party of that year] and had this epiphany in the middle of the night, I called up the girls flyering for me and talked to them for two hours about everything that I thought a party should be, asked them about their dream party, and convinced everyone that Revision could be that. I felt so locked in and hyped. At the end I wanted to unite us I guess, so I thought up Vagitron, and I co-opted the 'rock lock' handshake from the '70s where the guys do this [he holds up his two middle fingers] and the girls to the standard devil horn business. You're the 'vag' and I'm the 'tron'... It's not about music or styles, just about having a good time." Corey K, Mayday, Bind and Cherry Cola rock tunes and MC Vadah Boy is on the mic at Saturday night's Vagitron. With no cover before midnight ($5 after) and liquid Vagitron on tap, it's most certainly 'on' (at Academy, 4445 St-Laurent). |

| Coolness: 33075 | Yeah, I totally agree, only thing is there's my mate birthday party the same night so I MIGHT have to leave a bit early, and it would really suck for me if I ended up missing the DnB :D but yeah you're right this really is a good concept, I'm very looking forward to my weekend. |

I will also send a request list of what songs I want to hear and when because I might have to leave early. Bear in mind I only listen to one style of music so don't dissapoint me!
